Loss Of Power - Weird Vibration

Featured Replies

Hi All

Noticed a really weird vibration when in 3rd gear under load and also 6th gear when pootling around but then just accelerating in 6 slightly, have attached video.

(most noticeable at the 33 Seconds)

At 85mph on motorway could hear high pitch whirring noise. No Dash EML warning lights. No Faults codes in Torque Pro.

Is this the dreaded supercharger clutch problem / Water pump or DSG? How do I fix? Under load it feels like a 'misfire' but again no warning on dash

Problems start at just over 2K Revs when in D6 then when u need a bit of power to get from 30 to 40mph the weird vibration starts.

Car feels like a bog standard 1.4 running rough, no boost at all, had a listen to engine in Idle and seems to be 'ticking' a bit more than normal. Could this be the timing chain?

You have a fair few mods there.

Plenty to cause issues.

So is this a replacement engine,?

you changed the plugs to DENSO, so what GAP was set and when? How many miles ago?

Whip all 4 out and inspect.

'Misfires might not log but by now you should have had the EPC light or Emissions Control Light. (engine light).

Best get it to someone that know what your are checking.

If the Water Pump / Magnetic Clutch was gone and the Turbo disabled i would expect the Engine light to be on.

PS

Just got my old Red Fabia back to do some work on.

This was the one that got filled by mistake with Diesel.

That was sorted out.

Now Engine Light on because Resonator has a leak. (hopefully that is all.)

Front tyres have bulges from hitting pot holes, so 2 205/45 R 17's going on.

Passenger side Dipped Beam bulb needs replaced.

Passenger rear door has a ding.   Ahhhh.

Hi Offski

Original CAVE Engine with all the Skoda oil fixes (and no oil used in 1700 miles)

Denso's run well since last 1500 miles.  Gap was set at 0.7mm.

Car dyno at 203BHP when intake was fitted December. Car has been running amazing up until yesterday.

Weirdly my problem started after topping up from empty with a full tank of my usual Shell nitro from the same garage (coincedence or what?)

Last problem i had was faulty coolant sensor, that was sorted a month ago.

I will book in with tuning shop see if they can figure it out.

Glad you got car back from the diesel fiasco!

Once you get it sorted please stop buying Royal Dutch Shell V-Power Nitro+ with their 99 ron min and secret Additive / Detergent crap, you do not need it.

You do not need Bore Wash, and no 5w 30 Long life oil.

Tesco Momentum 99 might have the same Additive/ Detergents but i never hear of issues with that.

IMPORTANT.

Winter Spec Petrol should not be in Filling Stations from now on this month until Oct/Nov time when they start delivering again.

Booked in Next Thursday. If you listen to sound (might need PC) sounds like something rattling though.

Changed my route to work last 2 weeks due to traffic lights, which is slower route 30-40 all way but goes over a lot of speed bumps at 15-20- I might have loosened something.

Will change petrol again see if makes difference.  Just hope its not the timing chain!

Well my Old Flabio lives again and i will have her for 3 weeks of fun.  I forget sometimes how amazing the Twinchargers are.

Speed wobble was easy, bulges in the winter tyres so a pair of 205/45 R 17 Goodride are on until i put good tyres on in the summer. £100 for a pair.

Exhaust clamp was all that was needed so £9.60

Fault code showing was just Catalytic reading, Park Assist and some that were from being left with a flat battery. £0.

New plugs in even though the DENSO that came out were good,

& i had a wee look down the cylinders and at the piston crowns and all looks good.

So basically a Standard Original CAVE built 2010 with Stage 1 APR & today it has some 102 ron in for a treat once the new tyres get a bit of a run before booting it.

Slightly Good news my local fixer upper garage scanned and it has come up with P2261 which is the N249 Turbocharger Air recirculation valve.

I am thinking this the  (DV+Valve (T9355) .

I did buy the device second hand so maybe it has failed in some way. He advised me to take the car back to tuning shop to analyse the part.

Another option he said was to take the spring out of the DV+ Valve (if unit still intact) so it would then act like stock? Has anybody done this?

'O' Rings need checked, and connector.  Otherwise i know nothing about them.

Me neither, but i remember the tuning guy saying it was difficult to fit, so there must be something wrong with it. Its in the tuning shop next thursday but sounds promising if it is that. (ie no more major expense)

GFB DV+.jpg

I have fitted them as per guide, nothing difficult there, it is just they were out a box new, and i know nowt about them, other than they work.

(i have not had one myself though on my cars.)
