Next NOOBIE question. Does my car have SMARTGATE or is it / was it an optional extra?

I have a new Superb estate SE-L exec.

It allows me to connect to car-play and android auto, and I'm seeing info on the screen about WLAN and hotspots...

Carplay and Android Auto are connected by SmartLink...not Smartgate. WLAN and Hotspots are also not depending on Smartgate. If you have Smartgate (which is an optional extra) you would find a wifi in your car named "SmartgateXXXXX" where the Xs are numbers from you VIN number.

 

Smartgate would allow you to connect to a few Skoda Apps and read data from your car. I installed it...and must admit that I am not really using it at all.

In which case I don't think I have it - I don't see that WIFI and I don't think it was added as an option. Seems a bit too geeky for even me to be honest. As long as the boys can connect their iPads we'll be fine  .
