Yeti 1.2 tyre pressures

Featured Replies

Hi All

I've had my new Yeti for a few weeks now and one of the things that has been bothering me is how hard it rides, especially over some of the poor surfaces locally. So about 1000 miles in I thought I would check the tyre pressures tonight and discovered that all four were set at around 3.6 BAR or more than 50 PSI.

Checking the the filler cap revealed recommended normal load pressures of 2.1BAR all round. I've got the PDI sheet from the delivery showing tyre pressures were checked before the vehicle was released.

Is it normal for them to be run that hard? What pressures do others recommend for decent ride comfort and handling?

Thanks

No idea of the answer for your car but the manual app thing on my iPad says

The pressure guide in the filler flap is good.

Who set your tyres to 3.6 BAR & why, if it was at the PDI that is ridiculous and unsafe, so be sure to let the Service & Workshop Manager know and the Principal Dealer.

Drivers should always check and set their own pressures and the TPMS and not trust your and others lives to strangers

or could not care one bit Dealership Employees.

When I picked our first Yeti up I could tell there was something wrong within a few miles.

The tyre pressures were all over the place. I rang the dealership and told them about the quality of their PDI's.

On collection of our second Yeti a few weeks later the tyre pressures were spot on.

Some large dealerships use offsite PDI centers.

I think the actual pressure for a new 1.2 with 17's fitted is 2.1 bar / 31psi lightly loaded.

I took my Yeti in with towing pressures in the tyres

and they were altered during the service, set to the

normal pressures for the stated tyre size.

That is how it should be when you hand in a solo vehicle, then the Service Desk person handing over the keys and Technicians Report and print outs should point out the pressure the tyres were set at.

That is Servicing & Maintenance and Customer Service.

I have had 3 Yetis from different dealers and they were all over inflated. I think they play safe and think over is better than under.

Not wishing to start a thread about TPs!

Had my Yeti  Urban for 3 weeks now( 17" Matterhorns )   & had to get 3 weeks advice off various Yeti forums  & friendly salesman  about the dreadful , unsettled, po-go ride .  Will eventually swap to 16" wheels with 60 wall tyres . . But at the moment Having tested ride at increments of 1lb between 30 & 36 psi ) & car is riding on halfworn Dunlops. --my salesman told me to try 28 psi . Well this resulted in a 50% better ride . He also told me , when time comes  , fit Continental contact  tyres  ( know in the trade for  comfort & quietness.

Cant quite work out Skodas thinking  . ????

Not sure I'd want to run my tyres at 6psi below the standard 32psi.

I'm running Cross Climate and I'm very happy with them.

16" wheels with 60 profile tyres will dramatically improve the ride. Tyres should also be H spec and 95 loading. All this results in a much smoother more comfortable ride.

I do like The Continental Contact tyres.  Current car has 20,000 out of a set, with 3mm on front and 6mm on the backs, not swapped them from front to rear or anything.  I know for some tyres that can be expected now, but that I think is very good indeed.  I'd recommend them.

I run my Yeti's Dunlops at 28psi due to 32psi eating the middle of the tread and the ride was harder than a hookers heart.

Tyre pressures ticked off on a PDI, without actually being consistent and correct across the 4 wheels (plus spare if fitted).

Never seen that before.... ;)
