Adrian Flux laugh

Featured Replies

Quote from Post Office £248. Flux quoted £900. What a laugh from a sponsor. Grand to know we get a good deal!

Hi,

Whilst we can't be competitive on every quotation I'm surprised we are so much higher than your Post Office quotation. I'd appreciate it if you could PM me your details so I can just double check it.

Regards,

Dan.

Pm sent. Whilst I can understand some fluctuations this is a group one car. Low power, small engine, standard manufacturer. I expected a discounted price, not four times higher.

Tried for a quote just for kicks - nothing instant, they email you?

WTF?  People these days expect something on their screens immediately?

A lot of the more specialist brokers will do that as the quote isn't automated. Someone actually looks at the information and then works on your behalf to find you the best quote they can from the underwriters on their books. I have my cars insured through Brentacre who do work like this. They've always come back with decent quotes though.

Sorry, I was not working this weekend. Glad you got it sorted in the end though.

I got a quote from Adrian Flux the other week for £360 to insure my car and that was them expecting me to pick up a £350 excess ... They're having a laugh, ok they're not the most expensive but neither are anywhere near the most competitive either.

Hi,

Sorry we could not find a price that was suitable for you. Unfortunately we can't be competitive on every quotation I'm afraid. I only wish we could. I would have a very happy boss and it would make my job easier!!

Regards,

Dan.

I wouldn't mind Dan but I'm 59 years old with full no claims bonus and not driving a VRS model Octavia...

Yes ok I do 16,000 miles a year but is a 30 mile journey in to work and the same home ... I leave for work at 5:40 and I leave to come home Mon-Fri at either 19:00 or 20:00 and at the weekends at 18:00, the car doesn't move once I'm at work, and I'm not driving during rush hour.

This makes very interesting reading, just renewed my insurance through Adrian Flux as my previous insurer doesn't do wrapped cars, Labman my insurance is the same as yours but my cars modified, I'm 10 years your junior and a sp50?? I'll never understand insurance,

I know insurance is a requirement for every vehicle on the road, but to me it's just a crafty way to make money, and an unfair one at that. I know that they keep blaming things on uninsured drivers, young drivers blah blah blah, however, for those of us that are low risk, live in a low crime area, or don't do very many miles we appear to be shafted with the same issues - high premiums at renewal. I have over 20 years of NCB now (closer to 25 actually thinking about it) and it doesn't matter what car I drive, the premium is always around £400 year, and has been for the last 10-15 years, so the NCB I have been so careful to protect doesn't appear to count for anything (Does NCB actually matter anymore to insurers?). Personally if the insurance industry wants to make some friends in the motorist, then why can't they offer an incentive or two? Maybe for every 5 full years of non claim cover (irrespective of insurance company) you get free insurance for a year? After all, I have been paying insurance for nearly 25 years, at roughly £350-£400 a year so essentially that's about £10k paid to someone for what? I have never claimed, so not seen any of it.

Somebody in the insurance industry did try and explain how it works to me, now I used to work as a civil servant, so am used to waffle but after 2 minutes of explaining I lost the will to live. I'm just astounded that my car is so cheap for a modified car!

In my experience Adrian Flux is only competitive on modded cars. For standard factory spec vehicles, don't even bother getting in touch.
