Estate: how to remove trunk side panel?

Featured Replies

Looking to connect aftermarket wiring harness to the 'towbar prepared' connector behind the trunk side panel shown in the pic. Besides the obvious 3 torx screws, can anyone please indicate the remaining clips points. Particularly the plastic hook on the far left puzzles me.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem on my Octavia Combi. Did you figure it out? Any tips?

I can only speak from removing mine on a Superb II, but assume other models will be similar.

You have to remove the cover across the floor at the boot opening first, torx screws & clips.

That exposes a screw/s that holds the left side black plastic cover that follows the tailgate opening.

Each of the plastic load hooks has a plastic cover behind the hook that prises off & reveals a torx screw, plus a torx screw where the load cover slots in.

The white trim that follows the tailgate opening to the roof linning pulls off with clips, torx screw under there.

Fold down the left rear seat, remove the trim between the seat edge & door opening, nut on the floor holding this plus clips.

Then one or two torx bolts under there.

This is what I remember from my Superb II but probably be similar.

Thanks PipH, very useful information and the side panel is now to one side giving access to the electrics. First look is disappointing as it looks like I will need to run a cable to the fuse box. I was hoping that my 2016 1.6 TDi SE L would have the additional connectors ready and waiting. sigh!
