Passenger mirror dip on selecting reverse problem

Featured Replies

Guys,

I realise that my Passanger side wing mirror doesn't go back to the limit as it was set initially after a mirror dip on selecting reverse gear. every time it misses a tiny bit and therefore i had to manually adjust the mirror. did anyone encounter this?

Yes, that is completely normal - the mirror dip is only supposed to work when the car has electric seats with memory.

It kinda works on cars that don't have it, but, has you found out, it has some issues - mine does the same.

That rings the bell. Thanks for sharing the information.

Mine likewise. Perfectly normal as above. When i forget to adjust back it gets lower and lower .

+1. No electric seats = no position memory

On my old Tdi Vrs ( 63 plate ) I had the passenger side mirror made to dip when selecting reverse, no electric/memory seats.

I seem to remember if you make the mirror dip too far it doesn't return to it's normal position, if you make it dip less it will. I can't remember the degrees of dip required to make the mirror return to it's normal position but it's not much,  but 10 or so degrees springs to mind.

Just a thought......

Is the dip angle adjustable?

I seem to think it is, I can't remember to be honest as a member on here enabled the mirror dip for me.

I think you enable mirror dip, Ignition on, mirror switch to " L " select reverse gear, set mirror to where you want it, Out of reverse and the mirror goes back to it's normal position, select reverse and it should dip to where you set it to.
