Replacement Wiper Blades - Mini Review

Featured Replies

Car needed new wipers.. therefore went to my local approved supplier who fitted the below -

Valeo Wiper Blade  ( Silencio Flat Wiper Blade Set Vm442 )

Mini Review - Could be a one off, however these wipers were very poor. 50% smear across the screen and 1x 3mm water line not cleared on each wipe.

Very noisy from the rubber blade trailing the screen on intermittent setting due to how the blade switched on each wipe stroke.

On full speed the noise from the wipers was unreal.

Therefore, i took the car back and requested some better ones fitting.

Got the below fitted -

Bosch Wiper Blade (Aerotwin Flat Wiper Blade Set A864S) (Front)

This blades are silent in comparison and clear the screen REALLY well. (better than the OEM ones ever did)

Also, replaced the rear with - (Combi)

Bosch Wiper Blade  ( Aerotwin Flat Wiper Blade Rear A403H )  ( Rear )

+1

Replaced the OEM wiper blades with those very same Bosch blades a year ago.

It's the same A403H rear wiper blade for the hatchback.

Yup, Bosch blades are the best by miles. They're all I ever buy.

I have read criticism of the OEM blades before but have found them absolutely fine over the first eight months of use and 8,000 miles with no deterioration at all.  The car is garage kept so this may be an influencing factor.

I have also also taken to throughly washing the screens, front and rear, with a screen wash solution and sponge on a weekly basis to try and avoid grease contamination.  This seems to help.

When the blades are up for replacement I will use Bosch.  I have used them before and, as you say, they are the best by miles.

+1 on these.  I've tried others before and even if they are a little cheaper it is not worth it

I have found Bosch to be consistently good and generally disappointed by other brands

I have generally found that when your blades appear to be shagged. (Technical term.) Cleaning the blades often is all that's required. Lift them off the screen give them a good wipe along the edges with a wet soapy cloth / rag and hey presto, they're as good as new. I'm ashamed to say it was my missus that gave me that tip. :crying:

All configurators I´ve been able to find says I need Bosch A863S for the front, A864 is not mentioned? However, my Google-skills shows, that they are the same lenghts anyway. So, just ordered two sets - one for the Superb (where the wiperblades just started to be noisy) and one for my new Golf, which uses the same size. £23 including shipping for two sets :)

"There's an app for that!" :D

Bosch make it easy to find the right one:

Here's Bosch' own fitting list as a .pdf:

http://aa-boschap-de.resource.bosch.com/media/commonly_used_media/common_media/ap_common/parts/de_6/service_parts/wipers_service_parts/1987720304_klappliste_bosch_wischer_2016_2017.pdf

Observation: some fitting lists don't mention the Super III, only the Superb II

The small 3 in a circle refers to a comment which means "Long life thanks to wear-resistant wiper edge".

I also find them to be the best on the market and use them on my (current) Ford Cougar V6 and my wife's Clio 16V.

I always get the Bosch Aerotwin blades when I'm asked to get them for neighbours and colleagues.

There are a few sellers on eBay that do them for a good price (depending on size of blade of course).

Rick.  Can you confirm the "VM442" part number above? When I search the Valeo web site using my VIN it returns VM388 and it looks like VM442 is the fitting for the Superb II- same length and fitting so something to do with arm angles?  I need new blades and my nearest and cheapest motor factor stocks Valeo and I never had an issue with their blades.

Does anyone know who VAG's OEM supplier(s) of wipers is?

Thinking about it .. The guy fitting them nipped back inside and grabbed an adaptor of some sort..

Euro car parts lists this model for the car.

The OEM blades are Bosch just in a very expensive Skoda branded box.

I too have had a poor experience with Valeo.

Always buy OEM / Bosch.
