Swapped my 220 VRS for a 245 today.  Really pleased so far apart for feeling like I was Bambi on ice driving home.

Checked tyre pressures when I got home and 49PSI in every tyre. Corrected and the car seems much better now but still can't wait to get the Pirelli's off the Eagle F1's back on.

Nice car.... Wish the tyres were Conti sport Contact 5’s like my old Mk2 - great tyres imho and scooped most annual awards.

Not a a big fan of the Bridgestone on my mk3. 184ps. Anyone know how the Bridgestones compare with the Pirelli’s?

    Picked mine up today

  • So I picked mine up this morning, it’s a brilliant car love it already. Only done 50 miles and traffic was heavy but it ticks all the boxes for me.

For spirited road use Michelin PS4S can't be beaten

I think I might go for the PS4s next time.   Give them a run.

I have std Pirelli on mine, rubbish tyres, slightest damp patch on floor or temp of maybe 6°c or below and it's hardly worth trying to go quick off Mark.

Are the Pirellis that bad?

My last car came with PZeros and they were so bad (little dry or wet grip) that I was really glad they only lasted 9000 miles

weekly call from Skoda just received, my BW of 4 is now CONFIRMED.
Holy moly.

I wouldn’t have Pirelli tyres anymore, god knows what’s happened but I have had so many fail or wear out within short mileage’s. My car has PS4s on the front (awesome) and some nasty ones I’ve never heard of on the back which were brand new when I got the car. I’m just prepping to have PS4s put on instead :)

Is it possible to ask the dealers to swap the tyres when first delivered and if so do you just pay the diff per tyre or do they simply say no or will cost you 4 new tyres?

I can't say I've found them awful so far (4 months, 5K miles).  I had Michelins mostly on my Mk2, probably the best choice but they come at a premium

In the end they might do it if to close the deal, but they can't really (honestly) sell the tyres they take off as "new" and as for paying the difference Skoda won't be paying anywhere near even normal wholesale prices for the standard ft tyres.

I guess they might do it at "cost".   Anything better than that means you could have got a better deal in the first place.

I've had lots of Pirellis in the past and found them OK performance wise but agree they tend to wear out quickly.

Had a call from my case handler yesterday and she said the 245 was only planned as a limited edition although I seem to recall marketing saying it would be available ongoing.  Be interesting as to whether they open it back up again in a few months or whether next version is another limited edition but with more power say 260.

For ever and a day the Octy VRS power has been tied to around the power output of the Golf GTi, with the pre FL 230 and 245 mirroring the Golf GTi PP.  Following from that I would only expect the VRS to get more powerful if/when  the GTi PP does.

My bet is we won't see any power increase before the O4.

One thing is for sure, the 245 was fairly common knowledge back in 2016, so anything radical mid next year would be a big surprise.

If they have any sense, a 4wd petrol option would be the next thing on their list, wouldn't be hard for them to implement either.

Would be good for Skoda but would likely reduce Golf R sales - can’t see it happening myself

Its pretty much all already there...they already make a 1.8 petrol Scout (but they don't sell it in the UK)

the diesel vrs s 4wd already, I agree it would take sales away from the golf but I think it'll happen soon still!

My point is if Skoda UK won't even sell existing petrol 4x4 models I wouldn't hold your breath for a VRS.

Pirelli's road tyres are about as good as their F1 tyres! Had some on my Mk2 vrs & only lasted a year and little over 10k miles.

Went back to Yokohama Parada's and they were still good 2 years & 18k mile later. will no doubt go back to these when the 245 is due a change.

I think so .... amazing in the dry but if it doesn’t equal a warm sunny dry day then no.  I am in the North and it always wet, cold and damp.  So need tyres to suit.

Can anyone share contact details of people they've raised complaint to regarding delays in getting their VRS building week confirmed/delivered.  Skoda chat keep passing me back to the garage I ordered from who aren't being helpful at all.  Also tried emailing Duncan Movassaghi and had no reply.

Thanks

Just ask them to raise a formal complaint when you speak to chat and ask for a copy of the transcript.  I did last weekend and was told a case handler would pick up and call me.  Had 2 calls this week from the case handler (Maxine) so at least they are discussing options/trying to resolve.

What are the tyre sizes on the 245? Brochure says 225/35/R19 88Y but seen a few articles quoting 235/35 and one today saying 245/35.  Confused!
