Because it was cheaper than the Ibiza Sport.

Because its got great build quality, good MPG, great performance, cheaper insurance than a Seat AND crucially, great residuals

Oh forgot........ and the best Forum on the net !!!

Fast enough with good build quality at a sensible price. 2 years in now and I love it more every day

Less expensive, cheaper to run, better built more sensible than all the other things I was looking at.

I must have been having an off day when I put the deposit down. :(

Because my girlfriend went away for the weekend so i had an impulse buy. Yep worked out in the end, she hasnt spoke to me for the 6 months. Pure bliss

I always liked the look of the Fabia, but at the time I was looking at buying, you could only get the tdi 100 block in elegance trim. If only Skoda did a Ibiza sport 130 in Fabia guise. Just before signing on the dotted line for a Spaniard, Skoda listened to me and answered my prayers :D

To save the planet!

I've also bought a new bicycle.

And am trying to switch to hydro electricity - the last is the most problematic!

Hi

As a driving instructor looking for a car to teach in, I was pulled two ways. On the one hand I needed something economical to run, easyto drive, with good ergonomics, visibility and controls. On the other hand I am a bit of a car nut and wanted something quiet, fast and capable to have fun in between lessons. The car had to come in below

To me, the vRS Fabia is the best looking 12 grand on the market. It looks really agressive and has a great edge to it. The performance, economy, insurance are all key features as well, but when you drive the competition I think it is the best overall package. I DO NOT like the look of the Seat Ibiza at all  Looks like a girlie car and the front looks cheap & nasty.

I was/am a Skoda nut :o

Remember hearing rumours of a hot Fabia, and read some reviews... Dreamed about owning one, and when the opportunity arose, I took the plunge.

I really wanted a Mini, but test drove the Cooper and was bitterly disappointed. The vRS amazed me on the test drive.

I love the aggressive looks, the spec is incredible, its quirky, fast and the mpg is commendable. There is nothing on the market that I would prefer tbh, i love it.

I do like the Ibiza FR though, but its poverty spec, lol. No glove box light, boot light, ash tray light... poor seats, cack interior quality (the 4000 mile demo had paint peeling off the gear lever), crashy ride, lots of wind noise and MORE EXPENSIVE  I made the right choice.

If Briskoda hadn't of existed, I may well have stumped up the cash for a lower specced Bora instead

Just the whole package for me. The Q-car status of it attracted me quite a lot too. And I'd driven quite a few Golf TDIs, so knew what to expect from the engine/gearbox.

Spec seemed right, I like the attention to detail, the price was right, economy came as a welcome change. I haven't looked back since :)

Now, with a few choice alterations, it's pretty much the perfect car for me at the moment, future lottery wins excluded :)

My last car was a tuned 200SX, which averaged 18 MPG and cost me about £400 more a month than the vRS does all in, plus was getting a bit long in the tooth, few looming bills I couldn't justify and ongoing ones I was getting sick of. Wanted something that would cost me less every month, yet still return decent performance and look good. Tried the Leon Cupra and whilst I liked the looks, I couldn't get over how flimsy and poorly put together it felt, plus the additional cost over the Fabia. Don't regret buying the Furby at all, although I must say it takes a bit of fettling to get the performance up to a good standard if you're used to nearly 300bhp under your right foot :D

Briskoda made me :(

Was perfectly happy with my little 1.6 Octy until I found this place and saw all the fanfair about the Fabia... Thought I'd give it a test drive and ended up trying to buy the car that I test drove. Fortunatley they gave me an utterly absurd part-ex offer, so I found a new dealer which was much more reasonable indeed whcih also meant I could get a brand new one. :D

Looks, quality of construction, character, all round visibility, value for money, potentially good residuals, lowish running costs, roomy interior, oh, and looks. Basically it's a good all rounder, and when you factor in it's costs it becomes a great alrounder IMO.

I knew as soon as I saw the first one tested in this country (a Czech registered left hooker in Diesel Car magazine before it got totally cr4p) that I would have to have one, it just took me two and a bit years and three other VAG cars later to get my butt into one. Any regrets? Not yet!

A trip to the Stealers with my Occty L&K and there she was sat in the showroom all Yellow and gleaming..............Fell in love......:orb_love_ ...... and within 10 minutes I was signing on the dotted line ........:handshke:

Because I fancied a car that was not only quick, but cheap to run. That narrowed it down to the Ibiza and Fabia, and the latter was simply far better looking.

dont lie.... You saw mine at our workplace, and decided that you wanted to be like me..... so you bought the same (apart from your leather seats), and parked next to me... boo hoo.

I chose a new vRS over a low spec year old Mondeo TDCi. Since the family arrived (20 years ago) I

Bloody Auto Express greatest drives 2004 :thumbdwn:

Only drove the damn thing to poke fun!

I could've had pretty much anything sub 20K at no cost to myself and went for the Furby. I must be mad

I reckon (along with most of the motor trade) that it is the best value small car with a bit of fire in its belly that you can get for 12 grand.

Also, look at the residuals for a black one - 51% after 3 years. There is not another small hatchback which comes even close.

you don't need better reasons than that!

Because it drives better than a Polo GT130 and Ibiza FR130 and is 2K cheaper than the VW.

I was sold on VRS after the test drive.

I had a corsa 1.3cdti for about a year and used to see all the vrs' in the car park where i work. One came in part ex and i chopped the corsa in for it. Best purchase i ever made. Trouble is i can never find cheap upgrades.
