Because it p155ed all over my V6 vectra in a bit of a race... so i test drove one a couple of days later to see what the driving position was like for a lanky streek of p1ss, which is great. So i ordered one!

Well, having discovered the boot of my Mondeo had turned into a swimming pool I decided it was time to make it someone else's problem. Initially I was looking at cars which were all economical and environmentally friendly - but, my god, were they BORING! Then I turned my head to the kind of car that put a smile on my face. Almost bought a second hand MX-5 but the ******* sold it before I drove the forty miles to look at and didn't even have the basic decency to phone and tell me. Then I test drove a Hyundai Coupe which I probably would have bought except I couldn't adjust the steering wheel so it didn't interfere with my knees (I'm a tad over 6' 3").

Just as well really, because I then found out about the vRS - it sounded like it would satisfy my desire for fun and be nice and economical. One test drive and I was sold. It was a nice place to be inside, with plenty of head and leg room even for someone of my height (although I do pretty much make it a three seater, only a short lass or a child can seat behind me).

I've only had it 36 hours now, but I'm pretty satisfied with it thus far. The only thing that I find annoying about it is that the door pockets are too small for a drinks bottle.

Having just adopted the "Sprint" Yellow VRS (Fabia). My answer is

"Because!"

Sorry for taking the short sharp answer :>

I thought it might be interestingly and subtle response to try this approach for a change. My reason for wanting one, was as clear, and as to the point, as my reply.

And as is, no doubt, most people's realisation that this is the car that really does it for them. I went off the VW brand after several older bangers, but now I found I had a little money and could enter the new car market - it was the obvious choice.

And I am so pleased to be at this point (and so glad not to have been pulled towards a cheaper Citroen on an economic argument)

Isn't it obvious why anyone would want a Skoda (particularly a VRS) ?? :o) Everyone else is just deluding themselves they got a better car lol

I had a 2.7l Peugeot 407 Diesel Estate that did 25 to the gallon and it was costing me the earth. I had a test drive in a Golf TDi 130 and I said something to the salesman about how fast it was. He said I ought to try the same engine in a smaller car.

My wife came on the test drive and she was genuinely scared by the ferocity of the acceleration. So I ordered one. Simpsons did me a great deal and when it hits 3 years I'll mod it and let the wife scare herself silly in it again:)

Great value, fast, economical, VAG engineering, 5 doors, understated.

Plain and simple...... It was the cheapest VW 130tdi engined car you could buy new !

fast! versatile, economical. nothing else ticks all the boxes.

Fast, cheap to run, good mpg, 5 doors, good boot, better than a golf, faster than my Cooper, can put Jnr in it with 3 adults and two dogs AND all the shopping......and .....and .....PEOPLE SO UNDERESTIMATE IT !! I love making an *** out of BMW's and alike!

LOL :D:D

After having an Ibiza TDI Sport when they first came out & missing the engine when I sold it...several cars later the Polo GT was still too expensive so I got the VRS instead...simple really;)

How do you manage that? Mine couldn't barely hold a weekly Tesco shop in the boot!

Staple diet of RIVITA and cheese!!!!! lol

:rubchin: thinking about who's house I'd rather go for tea at. :D

I was running a 1.1i 106...I had owned it from new, it was approaching 4 yrs old and the loan was paid off.

The Fabia vRS is so much more than the 106! More performance, more comfort, more toys...for a tiny increase in annual running cost! Better mpg, same tax bracket, insurance is only

I just had to have a VW PD130 diesel engined hatchback! The engine just has such fantastic torque and fuel economy. I couldnt stretch to a Golf or a Polo but a Skoda held the promise of equally high tech, quality VW engineering.

Anyone think Skoda have something to prove? They already beat all VAG cars in JD powers survey!!

Keep it a secret:)

The reason for buying mine.....

Shifty's car and the smile on my face after the test drive.

I had a Honda Civic type R best car I ever had, but I don’t miss for one minute the constant trips to the petrol station, The fabia vRS can get me from London to Exeter and back, my weekly trip, with ease on a tank of fuel, with enough to drive around when i am down there, this week i got 49.9mpg from Exeter to London, and that included a few stretching the leg moments, the civic could only get me to Exeter, also my friend said I drive a sh!t car, how funny it was when I asked him what his wife drove for him to say a seat ibiza, I pointed out to him as polite as I could we had similar cars but mine was faster more economical better handling better brakes better seats a better stereo a six speed box oh and its didn’t have a nose like a posh bird with bad plastic surgery

(ok I didn’t say the last but it so does)

Would defo buy another skoda vRS or anything VAG Diesel or Lambo will have to see cough cough.

To save the planet!

I've also bought a new bicycle.

And am trying to switch to hydro electricity - the last is the most problematic!

You should move next a waterfall.

As for a VRS- As good as a Golf for Build quality.

Looks a bit better than an Ibiza.

Good PD lump.

Economical to insure, MPG.

Fits in my garage.

Not common on the road.

Hi

As a driving instructor looking for a car to teach in, I was pulled two ways. On the one hand I needed something economical to run, easyto drive, with good ergonomics, visibility and controls. On the other hand I am a bit of a car nut and wanted something quiet, fast and capable to have fun in between lessons. The car had to come in below

Price under

Astra handles better than Fabia Vrs? Dont think so in my honest opinion.

I have to drive brand new Vauxhalls at work for Pool cars, I often describe the experience as sitting on a bar stool while steering with brooms in my hand, and those damn indicators are the worst idea EVER!!!!!!
