Why did you buy a Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

I wanted one from the get go, but never liked diesels, oh how my mind has been changed

Brilliant concept, decent build quality (better than VW IMHO) and I love the SE interior.

30 to 70 grunt is awesome even as standard.

I have had 4 Fabia vRS's and my excuse is......

I drink too much.

A mate of mine told be he had bought an Octy vRS and i thought it's probably some boring skoda. Picked me up and was blown away by the performance, but at the time (21yrs old) insurance on that would have crippled me and it wasn't the best on fuel.

I bought an MG ZS+ 120. Handling was phenominal but i was always left disappointed with its all out power. In the mean time my mate traded in his Octy and told me he'd bought a Fabia vRS diesel. I winced at the though of a diesel Fabia but again i was blown away by it's grunt and really liked the seats. The dash in the Octy though is a lot better!!!

Got bored of the MG after a year and spotted a brand new fabia for 10,999 in my fav colour. I simply had to have it!

Spotted one on an 04 plate and had never seen one before and just thought it looked the biz.

read up about them and decided that when i changed my car that would get one.

january this year finally got one and love it,definitely a sleeper, cos most people can't get past the skoda badge............more fool them

I had a MK4 golf 1.6 before and I really needed a diesel, I wanted to stay in the VAG group but the new leons were too expensive as were the mk5 golfs. The old Octy VRS isn't a diesel so left with Polos, Ibizas and Fabias.

Ibiza too common and can't really tell it's a quicker version and the rides hard. Hard to find a polo with a 130 engine so test drove a VRS bought a smile to my face then bought my black one!

Having bought some new tyres to fix the interesting handling problems brought on by a mixed set and having the wheel alignment sorted out the car got taken out for a damn good thrashing tonight to test it.

Now I remember why I bought it. :D

after one test drive I had to buy it!!!!

good MPG + practical + good performance = SOLD:handshke:

I wanted something well built, reliable and economical but didn't have that much money to spend. My Skoda dealer was offering a good hire purchase deal with 0%. I also read a glowing Autocar longterm report which said the car was brilliant and quicker than the official figures and yet still returned 50 mpg plus so I decided to go and have a test drive. I was totally blown away by the test drive, sold my Peugeot 106 and bought one. three and a half years down the line I don't regret it. It feels well engineered, it's rapid enough for me and feels like a much bigger car on a long run. Only faults have been relatvely trivial such as door seal leaks and the infamous weakness of the front suspension bushes which I badgered Skoda to fix on goodwill 6 months out of warranty:) It's still a good car and am hanging on to it for the time being as can't consider anything will be that much better for what I can afford. It feels like it will last ages anyway:thumbup:

As this has come back to life...

I bought the Fabia to give me a good nippy car for instruction. It had to be reliable, comfortable and fun to drive. It did three years good work for me, over 120,000 miles and was still running sweet when sold. Why did Skoda not make a replacement? I would have one if they had.

Chris

A friend of mine - who used to be very active on here - took me for a spin in his mapped VRS. I was sold immediately. The power was astounding. And the (312mm) brakes moreso.

Went with my Dad when he was buying a new Octavia in 06 and sat in one, i said to my girlfriend then that I would be buying one. Big quote at the time as I was out of work but May 08 I got one!!!

When I got a good job in 2005 I was looking around for my first car and I looked at several different cars but my mate had a Fabia Elegance and I couldnt believe how quick it was on the "Private roads" getting up to 130mph I was shocked !!!

So when I told my mate I was searching for something sporty he suggested the VRS and I thought yeah corrrr Ive seen a yellow one about a few times and thought I could never afford one of those until I found out the price then found out it was a Diesel and I was even more shocked.

When I went down to the Skoda garage D M Keith (Loosers) there was mine on display as an ex demo and because it had xenons and leather on I snapped it up as it only had 2500 miles on the clock.

Never regretted it signing that bit of paper and driving away my Furby vRS

Thank you Czech people that slaved away in your factory bringing down labour costs to give me such a good bargain :)

I bought mine after a little outing in the ex star performance fabia which made my mind up there and then I had to have one :D

It was just a matter of waiting to get my hands on the one I have now :D

Without a doubt its the best car I have owned and I love it more and more every day, the performance, the comfort, mpg, the looks and the looks it gets, its all excellent :D:D:D

Its part of my car progression (through power and cost) and for the mpg as I do 35,000 miles per year and because its slightly left-field

Kiss my chavvy diesel skoda polo!

next in line is near to 1.3T, 150bhp+, 45+mpg but not until my VRS has reached 100K miles, which is in a year's time

:) Needed a car, that was not to big, had plenty of room and went really well with plenty of OOMPH.

This was it. Part exed a Z3 for it, had her now nearly 2 years and never regretted the decision for the BM to go.

My baby into Seat Surgeons on Monday, A 500 mile round trip but it should be worth it, Tuesday morning new wheels and rubber going on.

Gonna look sweet

Needed to replace the VW Bora, and didn't want to trade down in spec/build. I liked the idea if a quick small Skoda, kind if ironic, so I test drove a 55 Silver vRS last week, loved it, bought it today. Drove it home this aft... then found two excuses to take it out again :) So far I'm absolutely astounded by the mid range pull it has. It feels like the fastest small car I've been in. Can't believe the book "9"+ second 0-60 figure, it has to be quicker than that!?!? I'm gonna have to test it over and over and over again just to make sure ;)

Yup, its definately quicker than what the official figures tell you :thumbup:. Im sure ive read that they put more weight in the car or something to make the car slower, and therefore put it into a lower insurance group? I could be talking tripe of course!!

I wanted to downsize from diesel saloons (406, C5) because I didn't use the space. I wanted a quick hatch, and was really really wanting a Clio 182, but couldn't live with the fuel or build!

Then I test drove a vRS, sold! That was nearly 4 years ago, I leased one from new for 2 years, then just couldn't find anything else that came close, so bought my own. I'll keep it a few years now I reckon.

It's the only car I've ever had 2 of.

But I'd have a C5 again.. maybe when I'm older... very older!

i got sick to death of the pain/pleasure that is modded syline ownership, had 3 fabia vrs's now and a token mk 2octy,it is simply the best car money can buy imho:D

i bought mine for the cheap tax, good mpg, cheaper insurance, performance, build quality, and this forum aswell, i was looking at BMW's before i got a Fabia but there was no real support online for any problems i might have had, put me off buying one

Quickest car I could get reasonably insured on for my age (20). Great MPG and low road tax are a bonus!

I also like the fact that it's quite annoymous, and it has the ability to surprise a few people on the road. I'm actually glad the Skoda prejudice still exists, as it stops all the people that are only concerned about image from owning one!

I got in abit of a sticky situation awhile back. The fact my MK4 Golf GTi Turbo was so modified didnt help the situation and i had to sell it (worst mistake i've ever made). I decided i wanna gonna roll a standard car for abit, something that was cheap to run! After seeing the vRS was more BHP then a Polo TDi Sport i decided i wanted the horse's rather then the badge and went the for vRS!

The vRS has impressed me . . . But i cant help but dislike it! To be fair i always knew i would. But its cheap to run so atleast it affords me to put my money elsewhere other then my cars fuel tank!

And considering i bought it to drive a standard, cheap car for abit its already had a retrim and new wheels . . . cant hate it that much!

because in my opion you cant get a better all rounder for the same money. performance, build quality and comfort to drive. plus i like being different. who really wants a golf! lol

Coz I had a Cooper s before, and a remapped VRS totally thrashed the pants off it, so I went out and got one.

It just puts a grin on your face, and a little remapping will help :)

Now Ross has converted my estate and crashed- vRS into the Fabia vRS Estate Unit18 Edition, that smile is firmly back ;)
