My 03/2014 Octavia has a Columbus unit fitted, but I can't make sense out of the version numbers that I have, I'm looking to update the firmware to the latest version.

It is a Dutch model Octavia, and I just haven't been able to match anything that I have seen online with what is shown below, except for the Hardware version.

Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Thanks MartiniB - is the first link the firmware ?

The maps I have already downloaded via the Skoda update portal.

As a rough guide, the MIB1 Columbus has a DVD slot in the glovebox unit while the MIB2 does not. You need to be sure which you have. My MIB1 is hardware H40 and is running firmware 0411 and 2018 maps. I hope you realise that the Update software button on your screen shot is to update maps only. Confusingly, Skoda labels the firmware as software, as in Software: 0292. When you have confirmed whether you have MIB1 or MIB2, there is another screen that you need to display to update the Firmware, you press and hold the Menu button to reach the service menu.

That's not correct. Both MIB1 and MIB2 have a dvd slot.

I am led to believe that the DVD slot is missing from the latest version. I am sure that someone else will chime in.

The latest version isn't going to be installed in a 2014 year car though. MIB1 and MIB2 are both DVD drive units, although the later 9.2" screened units may be different.

Folks,

thanks for all your help - the firmware/software is now up to date and it went flawlessly, with the slight exception that I  set it running Fri morning and when I came to use the car Sat eve the battery was flat as a pancake.

A quick visit from the Dutch version of the AA and a nice drive round in the sun sorted that. :-)
