Dissapointed

We took delivery of our 3rd Yeti on 18th May, through the motability scheme as usual. We only use it to go into town twice a week. on the 4th June we returned form our ususal jaunt, and the rear sensors were working fine. On setting off the following morning from outr drive, the rear parking system was shouting at us. On stopping to look, the drivers side parking sensor in the bumper was completely inside the bumber. not just the sensor, the whole bracket inside as well. We were told we must have hit something but that is not true at all. they cant sort it till July. Today [18th June] we now have both bumper sensors fallen inside the bumper. So it isnt a collision. Is this heat [30 deg plus] melting the adhesive the glue the brackets in with? Design fault? IF so, will expect to see lots more like this after this week [our car is parked with the rear bumper in the sun most of the day]

If 'They that can not fix it til July' is the Skoda DEalership that supplied / sold the car to Mobility get in touch tomorrow with MOTABILITY and get it arranged to have the Repair carried out by an approved repairer.  SKODA UK Customer Services will be able to find a dealership or repairer that gives a damn.

If it is an accident as in someone hit your car and an insurance repair or even a Warranty Repair there are plenty that can have that done before June is out.

MOTABILITY own the car, rear parking sensors are important and Motability vehicles must have rear parking sensors or they are not on the list of cars available.

Unless someone came onto our drive on two occaisions two weeks apart and hit the car, its got to be a design fault. The bumper is over 46 dec C at present, thats as high as the guage we have goes to. We believe the adhesive has softened enough for the state of the roads to dislodge them. IF they try to charge as even with motability we have an exess, then I will tell them to disconnect the two in the bumper and blank out the holes. We can manage on the two that are left working.

Yes i know you have to pay an excess, i have a vehicle from Motability and have even written off a couple.

Just stick with the Design or Manufacturing fault or workmanship then,

hopefully other members that have had similar problem will be along with their experience.

A neighbour has just been in an accident and her Motability Ford Kuga, it rolled twice off the dual carriageway with 5 adults in it after a HGV hit it.

Before the glass was removed & the roof was cut off to get her out the damage was minimal other than the mirrors off.

She is sticking with a Kuga as a replacement which is probably a smart move,'much cheapness' deposits.

Been a while - just not been around much due to unforeseen problems. However, on the failing of the second bumper mounted sensor a couple of days before the car was due to go in for the first one to be rectified [which we were told we'd prob have to pay for] They were a little shocked that the second one had disappeared inside the bumper. They took the vehicle in and rectified them both - no charge. Seems the adhesive used on the clamp attaching to the fixing 'wasnt there' in enough quantity. Well, at least its sorted. Have to say up to now its an OK Yeti, diff form the others weve had - model, extras etc.

That's good to hear. I guess this sort of thing can happen from time to time if the tool used to apply the adhesive in the factory runs low and it isn't spotted immediately.

I was chatting to the salesman we bought our Yeti from once. He started out as a technician at a Fiat dealership and said they once had a transporter load of Puntos delivered and none of the rear windows had been sealed in place, presumably for similar reasons!
