Camera --- calibration/ special equipment

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just had a reversing camera retro fitted to our L&K Superb. The dealer informs me that a special piece of equipment is required to calibrate the car/camera. No idea what this " special equipment " is & just how many dealers have it ( they have been let down by another V.A.G. dealer ). So any thoughts/ suggestions ?

(camera is installed & working -- so far impressed  but car shows a " fault " when interrogated )

Plenty of posts about retro fit and calibration. A quick search should get you what you want but I would think they might be referring to a diagram that goes on the floor to calibrate the camera.

Thanks Enriquez for your most comprehensive reply ! I must admit i thought it was a sophisticated computer we were talking about --- member of staff ( at dealers ) certainly gave me that impression talking about cost Ect. So once again Enriquez - thanks for your time & trouble, i have forwarded the information on to the dealer. I have been searching ( with no luck so far ) for the site mentioned above regarding the template. I will give it another go ( computers are not my "thing" ) i i dont return send out the search party................

Hi,

Well if there's a link to a template i never found it ! went out to the caravan yesterday ( its in storage ) tried backing up with the appropriate view on the screen, worked a treat ! only one problem-- it was very sunny & the back of the car was in a shadow-- found it hard to see the ball hitch. Since the camera appears to be 0.o3 m.p. not so surprised. Was it worth it ? ( cost £438.00 ) ask me in a months time.................

P.S.- the camera was at time of purchase of the car listed as £ 300 factory fitted )

Thanks.

To be honest, proffessional tool called VAS6350 looks like this:

However to do calibration You need printed template in correct size, and ensure it is placed behind the car centered an with distance from axis to first black line c.a. 1600 mm.

This is difficult operation, because 99% attempts are failed, due to conditions etc. So - no need - don't touch.
