I need my boot size every day and spare wheel perhaps every 3 years so happy to take the risk. Have a spare wheel in the garage so the AA can get me home as a last resort.

Indeed. New car is a SEL Drive but am told no spare wheel.

Will a full size spare fit under the raised false floor without the floor rocking? I ask as I have a set of winter wheels and could use one of those as my spare rather than buy the space saver.

Apologies for disrupting this thread but it seems like it may be the best place to get the answer… I've just ordered a spare wheel kit today - Yeti Outdoor 4x4 2016 - and have been cleaning out the boot and wheel well in preparation for installation. When I lifted out the foam inserts, I met a couple of red wires - one with a spade type connector and the other with a different one. Also, a fuse which can be used to connect these. They were NOT, however, connected on discovery.

Can anyone let me know what these cables use is, please? And whether they should normally be connected or not?

That is the case, it is an option I initially specified but then deleted due to the impact on the boot space once I viewed a car with it fitted. More or less cancels out any point in having removable rear seats in my opinion.

Probably now have multiple punctures but previously only stranded once at the side of the road in 7 years in previous Yetis.

You must have got a car the dealer had ordered with a spare, or someone elses cancelled order.

 

I bet if you examine the invoice you actually paid extra for it, unless the dealer waived the cost to sell you a car he already had.

 

Did the order take about 16 weeks or more to come? If it didn't it was a garage speculative order or cancelled customer order.

 

My car was ordered in Feb  and I took delivery two weeks ago. Ok I didnt actually want it unti 1st July after ptevious car went back at end of its lease but it wasn't available much earlier than that. Maybe a week or so.

You are lucky then as it got forgotten about somewhere along the way.

If you dont want it I am, sure someone on here will buy it off you.

Car purchased. Bought variable floor kit. It is somewhat different to the Tsi version. However all fits fine. I am using one of my full size winter wheels as the spare and indeed the fill size wheel does not cause the raised floor to 'rock'. Can of gunk etc - ghastly; proper spare much more sensible and reassuring!

Survey - just word of caution winter tyres tend to be directional. Thus if you winter tyre it might only be suitable for the left or the right side of the car.
