Water Pump/ Cambelt - When?

Featured Replies

Hello

Question: When do i need to change the cambelt and water pump? I've done 58 000 miles.

Normally it says on the service book, at least it did on any other car i owned (not VW).

Cheers

That has many available answers and even Skoda / VW will not really know.

If you owned the car from new, know how it is driven then maybe go as long as VW / Skoda might say.

If you have no idea how it has been used up to now do it sooner than later.

Service Schedule / Guidelines are given by VW based on Fleet / Lease users, and people buying a Keeper want to play on the safe side if they buy a used car.

Any time between now and 100,00 miles, depending on condition, usage, age. Old belts may be rotten, hard driving may stress, your mileage with a nicely driven style should be good a while longer but if it snaps, well, its YOUR car! Save your money a while longer or cover your back and spend your cash...

Just had my wife's done at 6yrs and 60,000 miles. I'm sure I read somewhere that it's recommended at 5yrs/80,000miles - unless that was the advise from my indy garage... can't remember... lol.
