Just joining this forum, having tried to update (by download) the map software for the Amundsen system in my 2015 Octavia. Issue dated April 2017 was issued in June. Having followed the instructions, the system doesn't now recognise the data as 'valid navigation data', and my SATNAV doesn't work at all. The dealer tells me that there is a corruption on the downloadable file, and that SKODA are working to fix it - he has the SD cards, all useless, of several customers who have the same problem.

If that's true, it's a bit surprising (to say the least) that the file is still made available for download - I'd have expected it to have been withdrawn, in a hurry. Does anyone else have the same problem, and is there a solution?

Hi @Windlass - I downloaded the maps earlier in June for my Amundsen (2016) system; I had an issue with the download which they troubleshooted to using IE instead of Google Chrome, which did fix the problem. But it was only successful after several attempts.

Anyway, in the process, it was revealed that Skoda central's file / patch management process is not great, and the website is operated by a separate third party - hence any delay in removing the corrupted file from download link. We do expect these things from organisations, but many do not have things like this in place - and I speak from it being my line of work.

If there is a solution, it's likely to come from Skoda once they've fixed, tested, and released a new patched version - which could be a while yet (sorry to say). Unless others have found a way to revert to previous version?

Did you use a MAC to unzip the files onto the SD-card?

Theres another thread where users were able to update the Amundsen but it seemed the download size was at the limit of the normal Skoda SD-Card size & you have to format first with 4kb clusters.

Thanks, Gabbo - I thought there was another thread somewhere, but the one I found didn't seem to be addressing this particular problem. I was using Windows and WinZip to the SD card, and the problem does seem to be related to the file size: but it seems there's more to it. Ads230 - thanks also, I've been using Firefox but might try Chrome (if I get my card back). But at least it's not just me being stupid - itself a relief!

Either of the above could be possible, have a look here for more info.  Downloaded update & installed a few weeks ago & is working fine but did have to do the 4k segment re-format of the SD card, used Firefox but browser is only used to install Skoda updater which then manages the rest of the process, so doubt that is the problem.  Wouldn't be the first time a dealer has it wrong.
