Wiper hitting windscreen frame drivers side

Featured Replies

I've had my car for a week, love it! Yesterday was the first time I'd had to use windscreen wipers at speed. Once on , the top of the drivers side wiper (when upright) actually  hits the metal work on the column - is this a known fault? Symptom of something else... help please

regards

They're only golden, not crystal, but I reckon that the park position on the RH wiper blade must be too high.

Is that something I can resolve? Or is it a trip to a dealer?

I would think the wiper arm needs to come off and be refitted on the splines in a slightly different position to alter the sweep

I the car new, has it had a new screen fitted at some point, I'd take it back to the dealers to sort and don't get fobbed off.............

Just had a look, there is a bit of play where the blade fits the arm and I think that is where the issue is coming from.

Delayed update- the arm had been positioned too far over when last adjusted. NOTE trying to undo these wasn't easy get a puller or someone else as they were both seized in place. All sorted now. Thanks for the input.

@Steveopix - The wiper arms are attached to the spindles by taper spline fittings and just pressed there by the nuts. They will be extremely tight to get off as a result, even the one you just did. The "usual trick" is to stand the arm up, loosen the nut a turn, and then use the arm to lever itself off the spline lock.
