Fan not working on speed 1?

Featured Replies

You might get away with slipping a "Bomb" In the back, behind the front seats, running air-con on re-circ and on full speed whilst the bomb empties and let that go through the system. Hopefully it won't need new evaporator, etc. (You can get a more professional job done for around £30 from a valet company, using a fogging machine and proper, quality de-bac fluid/gas). Bombs can be around a fiver from an automotive shop and regular use is a good way of keeping the fresh smell.

Thanks once again Wino. I took your advice and modified the ECP resistor. Job done!

Thanks rum4mo. I've had the filter in and out that often I think it's in the right way (direction arrow pointing to drivers seat).

I've fit the pollen filter without the charcoal.

Ive still got the mould smell. I've sprayed anti bac spray. Run the heater hot for a while then cold. Still smells.

Well done, good to know that it can be 'tweaked' to fit.

May be worth checking that your evaporator condensate drain isn't blocked. On a mk1, that's hidden behind a bump in the sound insulation on the firewall of the engine bay, right by the point where the heater matrix hoses go through onto the matrix (the other side of the firewall in the cabin).  The sound insulation has perforations in it round the edge of the bump, so you can access it to check without major destruction.  Assume the mk2 is similar.  I have a thread in the mk1 section that had some photos, but photobucket has killed them. I will try to find the originals and replace in due course.

I took the Fabia to Skoda and they got rid of the smell for under £30.

Cheers!

i was steering towards that but after searching it seems that alot of them just work on speed 4 if its the resistor? i think that must bypass the resistor? Looks like mine might progress to that in time?

Yeah the pollen filter has been changed every year, or atleast i've been billed for one every year :D .

Abit disappointing on a car thats a year out of warranty and only done 40k, nevermind. Time to youtube the 'how to's' then i guess.

Similar case to mine. Skoda charging me £680 For the job!.

Fuming.

My 63 plate Roomster is showing the symptons. Yesterday the aircon would not turn on on speed 1. I turned to speed 2 and then back to speed 1. Sometimes I don't need to do this as it works on speed 1 from switch on. My son's Fiesta had the same problem but as it only worked on maximum speed. His was a 10 minute job and £20 for the resistor. Don't suppose it is as cheap or easy to replace it on the Roomster.

i looked into it myself, but its behind the passenger airbag and for the sake of 50 quid, its not something id tackle tbh :D

How do you get to the resistor pack? I have a Roomster but the front end and electronics is very much Fabia.
