Ok... Going out a bit later so I'll check for you.

Thank you! It may just be that I notice it more because I pay attention to the gear that it is in all the time

I think you'll get rid of the habit fairly soon and let the car worry about that :) .

Did you do that when you first got it?

I probably spend more time looking at the gear indicator than I do at the road..... :D

I spend most of my time whittling about why everybody else says they're getting a lot more mpg than I've ever managed. I like it best when it says I'm doing  --- mpg

I normally keep it on the avg mpg screen, but the gear indicator stays at the top.

I found that whenever the car struggled at 30MPH, I'd then stare at the gear indicator for the rest of the journey and it spoils it a bit

?

What is it struggling to do at 30mph, keep going, or keep running smoothly?

Is this a new or used Yeti 1.2TSI?

To run smoothly I guess. You know how it feels when a car is in too high a gear, it feels like that. it only then changes down when i press fairly firmly on the gas pedal. It is a 2014 1.2TSI with 22k miles on it

So Service Campaign 34F7 does not apply since your Yeti DSG has Mineral oil in already being a 2014 model.

There is a new Service Campaign started late last year.  34H5, a Software Update, your DSG might have had it if you bought recently,

or maybe does not need it, check with Skoda UK Customer Services or a Main Dealership.

If due it might not show on this VIN checker, so you need to ask.

It is a 14 plate, so mid 2014 car. It says there is no relevant campaigns for my VIN number.

I'm gonna get the DSG reset by a local garage that have the correct equipment and see if that helps.

Best check with Skoda UK CS's and see if your DSG is one that will get the 'free' Service Campaign Recall Action @ a Main Dealers since that has been brought in because of failures in some DQ200 DSG since VW / Skoda went to Mineral OIl.

That way you have comeback on them even when the Manufacturers Warranty expires.

How do I go about that? Do I need to phone them up and provide them my vehicle details?

Do me a favour and have a look at what gear it is in when you are driving at 30mph on a straight road? I'd be interested to know if your newer cars acts the same as mine. It is my only really issue with the car.

My TSI DSG is four months old and gets into 6th at around 30mph on a flat road.

If the car meets with the slightest incline, the engine labours momentarily and the gearbox shifts into 5th.

Hill hold assist on mine works exactly as Awayoffski has described.

Mine acts the same, however, when it changes to 6th ona  flat road, the engine feels like it is labouring and won't change down unless i go up an incline or i press down more firmly (quite firmly) on the pedal.

Always good that when you ask Skoda UK anything that you have a reply in writing.

Just email them and let them call and tell them to confirm in writing if your vehicle is not part of a Service Campaign.

Hi Gman

Ok. Just returned from exercising our dog.

At 30mph we are in D5.  It changes from D4 to D5 at exactly 25mph.

We have 2 speedos in the car. The normal  analogue speedo, and a digital GPS one as part of the Cheetah system.

That seems to be the same as my car, however, if I press a tad more firmly when in 5th at 30mph, it goes up to 6th (say, 32mph +) but as soon as the car drops back to 30mph it goes back into 5th. Would you say this is in line with your experience?

Cheers for your help

Yep. Spot on.  Round here where it says 30 you learn to stick to 30......Bloody lazer traps everywhere..easy to get distracted from them.. hence the Cheetah unit.

Glad to have helped.

I'm pretty sure that our 2017 Drive model doesn't have Hill Hold. Just checked the brochure that we used when buying, and according to that, on new cars it was only fitted to the SEL spec and above.  In fact there's nothing about the Drive model in the 2016 brochure at all as it hadn't been announced when printed, so no surprise really.

I actually posted the Drive Specs on here back in January after getting  them from our dealer....Just looked at them.  Nothing there either.

So who says the SE models have Hill Hold? Think your dealer is mistaken, unless he knows something we don't?

But whether it does or doesn't I wouldn't want to labour either the engine or gearbox in any way, so for me, it's neutral and handbrake on hills if I need to stop. It's no different imho to 'riding the clutch'.... A habit that wrecks most clutches in no time much to the amazement of drivers who do it!

Where are your drive spec you posted

Yes just checked. Sel and sel drive have hill hold, se and se drive do not according to brochure

I actually posted on Feb 1st in Yeti Forum. You can look back for it, but here is that post. The info is on  an official Skoda document that I still have in our car purchase folder.

No mention of Hill Hold.

"

I've got my Yeti drive ordered,  and I've got the info right here as photocopied by our dealer.

Specification.

SE Drive (over previous SE)

17inch Matterhorn alloy wheels

Amundsen navigation with DAB

Auto dim rear view mirror

Heated windscreen

Light and rain assist

Floor Mats

Heated Front Seats

Front and rear parking sensors

New fabric upholstery and dash inserts

SE L Drive Model (over previous SEL)

Amundsen navigation with DAB

Heated windscreen.

The bumph says:

The drive model builds on rhe impressive specification of the current SE and SE L trims with further enhancements including Amundsen  navigation,  heated windscreen and front and rear parking sensors.

Both models offer fantastic value for money.  The SE drive has enhancements worth £2295 but will cost customers just £935 more than the standard SE version,  while the SE L Drive has additional spec worth £1850 but is offered for only £755 more than the SE L.  Customers therefore save £1360 and £1095 on the SE Drive and SE L Drive respectively.

That's what I have.  Hope it helps.  Really looking forward to seeing our beastie when it arrives, but we feel we've got ourselves a very good package for the money. And we REALLY don't like the shape of the 2017 Yeti AT ALL.

It's just another boring SUV. "

All I can say is, I have an SE and it does have hill hold, is it an optional extra? It definitely has it...

It may well have been an extra, or possibly comes as standard with dsg only. The brochure is very clear stating it as an sel extra feature.

It just seems odd that the sales manager himself told me that they come with hill hold (all dsg models) as standard.

I suppose it's always possible that the powers that be were just using up various parts at the end of the final production runs,  and your car was fitted with it..... But definitely not a listed feature.

My car is a 2014 model!

But a friend of mine has just got a new Yeti and theirs was fitted with a lot of extras for free (sat nav, etc)
