Anti roll bar - bushes

Featured Replies

Hello

Has anyone tried to change the anti roll bar bushes? Mine make a rubbery squeeky noise every time i go over a speed bump, I bought the replacements but i can't seem to take the bolts off as i haven't got any space or any special tools that can fit in there. I jacked the car up and took the wheel and I still can't manage to do it. Any advice anyone?

what's the difference? how much did that cost?

I meant Powerflex, sorry

According to

https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-series/products/Fabia+5J+(2008-)-2783/1.html

They are £17.95 per set and will last a Lifetime.

My bill was a lot more as I got all lower suspension and lower engine mount bushes do at the same time.

Wasn't cheap from memory, but made a big difference in improving handling and was worth it to me.

Are the nuts 13mm? I'm sure you just need a UV joint to get in there with an extension bar

Yes. I need to get one of those then.

Don't you just get the top one with everything just hanging down naturally, then jack up the outer end of the wishbone, which lifts the driveshaft out of the way to get straight on the lower one?

No, the driveshaft is still in the way. I have tried.

I've done this job before and this is how I did it :

Jack up both sides of the car so that the front wheels are off the floor. ( this is needed because if one side is on the floor you make the anti roll bar twist, so it'll make the bolts hard to turn, and will go with a bang when you get them out!) and also of course remove the wheel on the side your replacing... This could be both sides!

Remove the the arch liner with torqx t25 (maybe it's 20) this may not be needed, but will make life way easier!

i used a ratchet ring spanner, for the top bolt ( this bit might be the other way round!) and a normal ring spanner for the other (it needs to be a ring spanner where the ring is at an angle to the main handle, which is pretty normal) this allows enough access.

to get enough room you'll have to turn the steering wheel all the way to move the driveshaft a bit.

hope this helps !
