Black Design plus pack - what's in it?

Featured Replies

This is fitted to the vrs estate I've just bought (it was from dealer's stock so I didn't trawl through the options list building it up) and it has this fitted. Dealer has charged me £600 or so for it, but it's on the skoda generator at £300?? Bizarrely, when the build is finished, the black pack morphs into some bluetooth / LAN / Charger option, which I most definitely didn't select, so a glitch in the configurator page. I have read conflicting reports as to what it actualy includes, obviously 19" wheels, black trim bits and cornering fogs, but anything else?

What year is the Vrs,  Is it a 220/230/245 ? or a Tdi

I think only the pre FL 230 and the new 245 get Black Extrems, all the others get dark grey Wheels with the Black Pack Plus

I will stand corrected though

It's a 2017 VRS diesel. This is the actual car so you can see wheel design. I hadn't realised it had the 19" wheels, a recipe for crap comfort and more expensive rubber d'oh

I'm also trying to determine what tricks if any the headlights have as standard. I've read again conflicting bi-xenon or LED. The Superb has the full auto swivelling things, that are frankly brilliant, best headlights on any car I have owned.

Don't think the new lights turn like the Xenons did. The LED lights  go up and down.

The LEDs on my Leon were good, but the xenons on the Superb, whilst warmer in colour temp are just more useful. The auto dimming system of sliding covers worked well, I never once have been flashed for dazzling anyone yet it stays on main beam constantly

Nothing else.  The cost for this is usually £675 on the vRS configurator, at least it was when I specced my car up.  I bought the Black Design Pack at £150 and Black Cornering Fogs at £125, so £275 in total.  To add the 19" extreme wheels as part of the Plus pack was an extra £400 but I just don't like those wheels, even at the bargain price to add them.

Lights are LED.

I realised I was misreading the options pricing on the configurator. I've got the 19" wheels which I wouldn't have bothered with had I been speccing it out from new. I've had a search through carwow and relieved  to see nothing comes close to the discount I had.

Should be £275. Still a bargain though if you don't like the 19" wheels

stever750,

Hi, enjoy the new car.

This thread had me look at the Skoda configurator, and glad i did, i have no idea that the vRS Estate could come as a TDI with DSG & 4x4.

I'ts just a pity you can't get a Petrol 4x4 with DGS in the Vrs range

Even bigger pity that it's only a 4 cyl 180 ish bhp. The petrol versions are all benefitting from horsepower creep, but diesel power remains unchanged.

Last ones without SCR hence much cheapness.

Last TDI's as they were really.

My superb drinks adblue faster than a Scania. I don't think the octy will be any different!

Sorry, i never knew the Octavia was a SCR.

My 150ps TDI Seat gets 8,000 miles on a tank of Ad-Blue and that is putting 15-16 liter into the 17 liter tank to top up.

Getting 10 miles to the litre of Tesco or Asda diesel tank fill after tank fill from the not light Alhambra.

Don't know that it is, I assumed that all new 190ps engines use it to meet euro6

The FL may be different, but on the pre FL the black design pack plus consisted of:

Black mirror caps

Black roof rails on estate

Black grille surround

Sunset glass from B pillar back

Colour maxidot display

19" Extremes

The FL has sunset glass and colour maxidot as standard now, so drop them from the list and maybe add black surround fog lights and that's now the BP+ as far as I know.

I've also just discovered it's not an SCR engine, so no messing about trying to fill the tank on a Sunday evening before  the weekly 500+ mile commute....
