Octavia MK III Drivers window switches broken!

Featured Replies

Hi, my drivers side front windows switches have stopped working. I removed the unit with the cable still attached to try to diagnose the problem. I thought it was water ingress after a torrential shower with the windows left open for the dog. But I was alarmed to see what appears to be plastic fatigue, with the switch actuator pushing through the bottom of the switch.

Reinforcing the plastic shows the actual unit works fine, it's just the switches. The unit appears to be unaffordable expensive. Is there any way to replace just the switch? Or has anyone any other advice re fixing this problem? Has anyone else had it?

This is a 2014 1.6Tdi Elegance. Lovely car, but I could do with working windows!

Thanks, Sue

Susec, my driver side switch for the passenger window went very loose like something was worn or broken, the one touch up or down (second detent) stopped working because of the looseness. Eventually it stopped working.

I had the switch replaced under approved used warranty so I don’t have the switch to look at or comment on the cost. I understand that it comes as a pack but it’s not too difficult to replace, but other members may have more info- but they do seem to fail.

good luck in getting it sorted.

The switch is around $10 online from aliexpress, it's a shame that the switch is so fragile.

its the ****test feeling switch i've ever known on any of my cars
