Bluetooth replacement

Featured Replies

Sadly I have the old Bluetooth module fitted into my 2010 Superb and can't actually use the hands-free system (although it does pair with my LGG4 and shows contacts etc, but disconects from the network when paired to the car).

Instead of trying to find and pay a lot of money for a new module, does anyone know if one of these would fit into the rear of my columbus header unit?

That looks like it's only for streaming music to the car. Assuming it does fit, it's not going to give you hands free calling...

Sounds like your car has an rSAP BT module fitted and a LG G4 should work perfectly fine for calling etc. In that instance, it's normal for the phone to disconnect from the network but the car should connect in it's place. You then use the car to make/receive calls instead of the phone.

I'm in the same situation: I want to pair up my iphone so I can stream music (don't care at all about making calls through the car). I'm unclear how this would work:

1. How difficult would it be to fit? Would I need to remove the Columbus unit to find where to plug it in?

2. How would the iphone pair with it? Where would it appear as an option and how would I sync to it?

Anyone got ideas?

The Columbus supports streaming via bluetooth out of the box. Where you might run into trouble is the bluetooth module fitted to your car. Older versions have more limited functionality than newer ones. The module is fitted under the driver's seat: if you slide the seat back all the way and pop the cover off you should be able to see the part number for the module fitted to your car. Report back with that and people can give you better guidance.

It's the old module that only supports rsap and not hfis needed to connect the iphone. When I try and pair, it says 'mobile phone not compatible'. I know I can buy the updated bluetooth control unit but this seemed like a cheaper alternative when I don't wish to have the ability to make phone calls, just stream music.

connect your phone headphone socket to the aux audio sockets in the arm rest box.

or load your music onto the hard drive

buy a cheap android phone and leave it connected just for music. (or even stream it then)
