Air con Pipe / hose

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Last Spring I replaced the the Compressor and condenser on my Mk2 VRS Petrol.  It was working brilliantly until just recently.  It was noticed by my A/C specialist that the A/C pipe (Bulkhead to compressor) had a pin hole under the fixing clamp rubber.   I've had a quote from Skoda for the pipe which came in around £260 including VAT, which did shock me a little.

I have been provided with the part number (1K0820743 FG) and found an OEM part in the US, however they do not mention the Skoda as being compatible (I assume they don't have Skoda's).  Has anyone bought this item from the US? it seems to look like the correct part, and it's a fraction of the price:

Many thanks

Can't answer your exact question but you are right, US don't have Skoda so it is possible for it to be cross compatible without listing it.

Someone would need to check the part on ETKA and see if it is the same.  The listing is for a non genuine part though as I'm sure you are aware.  Or you could try enquire about price and availability of the part number at dealer or TPS locally, and at conclusion get them to double check it is correctly listed for compatibility of your vehicle.

Thanks for your great advice.  I have looked at an online ETKA and the part seems to match up.  I called a local Skoda dealer for the price, so I'm unsure if I can get it any cheaper.

Sounds promising for you! So was the AC pipe £260 stand alone without fitting for the genuine item? . That is pricey!  Good luck, hopefully the part arrives and fits all ok.

Hi all.  So I thought it was about time I pulled my my finger out and ordered this pipe from the US.  It arrived within a couple of weeks, and to my relief matched the original part very well.  I have since fitted the pipe, had the system pressure tested and re-gassed.   Based on my experience, would recommend getting this part shipped from the US, not only is it equal quality, but it saved me £200.

Image attached displays the new part on the left.

Thanks for everyone's help on this topic.
