squeaky drivers seat

Featured Replies

hi all im new to this site

i have a 55 plate fabia VRS and have a squeaky drivers seat just wondering if any body's had the same problem????

Its quite a common one.

It will creak and after 10k miles or so will start to rock.

Dealer should change it under warranty.

(I'm a fat *******, but on seat base number 3 after 22k miles... )

Yes me as well. Started last night. Another for the list on Monday.

Anyone know if there is a modified seat base that they fit now, or do they simply replace it with one the same (which'll need replacing again?)?

Chris

My seats creaking and has done for quite a few miles. It hasn't started to rock yet and i've done about 25k miles. Is the interior warranty for a year or 3 years, same as the exterior warranty or is it just a basic 3 year warranty for the car?

I've got it too on my 55 reg vRS. It doesn't bother me to be honest, but I'll book it in for replacement at some point anyway - no point keeping defective goods if I can get them repaired even if it doesnt bother me!

dont know if this helps, but my drivers seat used to creak and rock when braking, however, i visited the seat surgeons to have the leather retrim which involves removing the seats and since the seats were put back in i dont have the creaking or rocking seat. So maybe the seat wasnt fixed prperly down or has came loose and the bolts just need tightened

I would ignore my seat but its also going in for:

Rattle - sun roof (new one or is it common?) glove box and rear shelf/boot

Water leaks - both rear doors and boot

Squeeky front brakes

On the bright side the fuel flap has been fixed on the third attempt!

Other than this love the car esp at running cost of 8.5p a mile even with the high price of derv.

Other post on here about max distance per tank - i have managed 550 miles but then i do a lot of long motor way hauls.

mine was fixed under warranty after a huge cuffufll. They claimed the remap affected it, which it quite clearly didnt.

It just adds character! Mines done 89k rocks like a good'en. Never has a problem passing mot. But looking for a good one of a scrapper as the fabric is fraying badly.

Interestingly, mine did fail an MOT at 80k miles because of that! Maybe my testing station was too strict as I'd not noticed it rocking while I drove ;)

My drivers seat on the vRS creaked and I did notice it rocking. However, if I moved it through the range of height adjustment and then back to where I wanted, it seemed to stop the rocking for a while. I do like the seat to be low though :)

Mine creaked a bit last summer but hasn't done so through the winter or to date so far. No sign of rocking (yet) either.

Now on about 9k just about 13 months old.

All the minor creaks and rattles in mine seem to be very seasonal and temperature/humidity dependant.

Just had an 05 Vectra 1.9 CDTi (120BHP) with 17k miles on hire for 2 days and over the 500 mile trip it also had a few interesting clonks, clunks, creaks and wheezes.

Good M Way cruiser (46mpg), interior the size of a removals van but nowhere near the vRS on the hoot factor scale.

The vRS is also a much better fit for short arsd, chubby old gits like me - almost made to measure.
