Bluetooth connection problems

Featured Replies

I'm still having problems with the Bluetooth connection with my Amundsen unit in my 65 plate Octavia estate. Twice yesterday I had to search and reconnect the Bluetooth. I'm getting sooooooooo frustrated with it that I'm about ready to launch the unit if this carries on.

I'm using a Google pixel xl running Oreo 8.0 and my issues with the Spotify app issues is still doing the same as it was since the Oreo update. Normally if I turn on the Bluetooth before starting the car it generally connects without issue, if however I start the car then turn on the Bluetooth it mostly won't connect with out me going back into the settings on the phone and reconnecting and all that messing around.

Is anyone else out there having or had similar issues with the Bluetooth connection with the Amundsen unit and a pixel or other phone running the Oreo 8.0 systemware?

There has to be a solution out there because this is really poor and annoying to say the least, surely I'm not the only one having these issues.

:wondering:

Therefore why not leave bluetooth on all the time. Most people seem to do that IMO.

I'd not thought about that, but in the past I've always kept it turned off to preserve the battery, I might just have to give it a try. Cheers john999boy

+1

I've always left both Bluetooth and WiFi permanently on, typically by the end of the day my phone battery is down to 80% or more - this is with an iPhone 5, 6+ and 7+.

You can get bluetooth scheduling apps...so you could turn off bluetooth automatically overnight or when you know you're in work...that would save some battery if that's a concern.

I have a 66 plate SEL and used Bluetooth on long run a couple of days ago. Noticed the Bluetooth dropped out after about 3 hrs. Searched for the phone on the Amundsen and it couldn't find the phone ( it picked up the white van in front!). At a set of road works traffic lights quickly called up settings found the Skoda pairing and re-established the connection. It dropped out 20 minutes later. I reconnected when I reached my destination.

I have a new IPhone SE running IOS  11.0.3. Can't remember it happening with my IPhone 4 running IOS 7 so don't know if this is an Amundsen or IPhone issue. I had the phone sat in the wireless charging bay - wireless charging is fitted to this car ( a charger receiver case was not fitted so the phone wasn't charging or overheating).

Any ideas, will try Bluetooth in the body of the car ( not in the charging bay) and will try my old phone back in the car to see if it drops the connection.

I'm still having the same issues with the Spotify, not displaying the correct track details on the Amundsen and on the maxidot display.

I've been on the Spotify forum and have found similar complaints, although not identical, but still no resolution.

To my surprise, I had a call from VW UK following up on my report to them about the issue, then another call yesterday from a case manager, from Skoda UK who went over the details again and assured me that they would try and rectify the fault with their technical team.

Peegee, I've never had an iPhone, but also I haven't had the drop out issue you described, I hope you get it sorted.

As john999boy suggested above, I've been leaving the Bluetooth switched on on my phone, however following the andriod forum suggestions and various updates, I've started connecting the phone via a cable to the car. This was all and well and good until more updates, whereby I have had to change the cable to the original that came with the phone.

All is working faultlessly now. It appears that the Bluetooth wireless signal can't handle the amount of data transfer and keep it up.

I hope you get yours sorted.

I've got a work phone (Sony Experian) and it disconnects all the time and have loads of issues with it - then phone did an update and most of the issues went.  My personal Samsung S7 and now S8 have always been fine.  For me it's a phone issue, not HU issue
