Sat Nav zoom distance and auto zoom

Featured Replies

My sat nav seems to be permanently set to ~700yd on the map, I can zoom in fine with the right dial but it zooms back out itself. Is there a way to set the zoom level manually?

Auto-zoom doesn't seem to work either!

Does it alter when you tap the screen, like on a mobile phone ?

What HU is your sat nav?

On my Amundsen I use two fingers to zoom in and out, exactly the same as on mobile/tablet screen. It keeps level of zoom after pressing center button (on the right edge to continue follow-up during driving).

Double tap on the zoom soft key, then you can set the scale manually using the right hand knob - this is on my MIB1 Amundsen.

It really annoys me that I have to do this every time I start up - IMHO once I set manual zoom it should stay in manual zoom!

Lol, I really love this feature that the nav auto-zooms based on the speed of the road & type of instruction you have to follow.

So much so that I took my wifes XC90 back to the garage the week after we collected it to tell them the navigation wasnt zooming & was much better in the Skoda.

I find it really dangerous to have to look at the screen & pinch/zoom every time you come to some kind of junction or interchange.

Agree it would be better to remeber the last user setting though.

Amundsen too. Yeah that works, but as others says it doesn't remember it

Which IMHO is a real backward step - even the RNS-D in a 2003 Audi I used to own remembered the zoom settings, so why have VAG not kept the feature? Seems crazy to me...

Another thing that annoys me with the Admunsun Sat nav in my 230 is that the screen doesn't split to allow you to see Junction/lane guidance or do you need to do something to make it work.

My old Garmin portable unit had this feature

Upgrade to Columbus B)

Do you not get it in the Maxidot either? I do but have the Colour one.

Yep,I get sat nav info it in the Maxi Dot ( coloured ) but I have the large speedo in there ( saves on points and fines )  but I dont think it displayed lane guidance at major junctions

Might have to investigate

If you have voice recognition, while navigation is running, you can say "Autozoom" and it will switch it on ( that is on a Columbus however)
