Front assist option not visible

Featured Replies

Now that I've had a chance to look into the various menus on my 245's infotainment, I cant see an option under Driver Assistance for the front assist? I was under the impression that the 245 had this feature since it has the forward facing radar in the grill.

Anyone else not have this option or do I need to speak to the dealer?

thanks!

Its an option. Comes bundled with active cruise iirc.

Lane Assist is standard on the 245 & if you try to squeeze into a very tight parking spot you'll find the City Emergency Braking gives you a shock the 1st time it kicks in

Yeah I've got the lane assist working, just never seen or had a warning for being too close (I normally keep a safe distance).

it's just that the manual says it should be listed in the same menu as the lane assist and doesn't say it's optional extra?

I think you’re referring to the system that uses the parking sensors for use at low speed parking manoeuvres. The OP (from my understanding) is talking about emergency brake assist (or whatever it’s called) that uses the front RADAR and can stop the car in an emergency from motorway speeds.

Thats is my understanding anyway.

yeah thats what I mean mean, the AEB.

why fit the radar but not enabled it?

if that is the case, can ACC be retrofitted?

There wont be a RADAR there, just the housing for it.

Don't forget that the manuals normally assume all options have been ticked. They are not specific for each build.

Fair enough, I'm just used to the old style ones that used to make it obvious what was optional :D

How fast do you drive into parking spaces?! I've never had it activate in this scenario :o

Try reversing into something very very slowly, you'll find it, no warning just an all mighty ABS hammer noise & the car stops

If you have Front Assist, there are a few ways to tell that it is there.  There will be an option on the same screen as Lane Assist (if you have that).  If you press the 'Driver Assists' button on the steering wheel (Lane assist icon, even if you dont have lane assist) (Face lift version), it will give you the option to turn Front Assist on/off.  If you turn Traction Control off, it will display a message 'Front Assist Unavailable', and if you start getting close to the car in front on a motorway (like 1.5seconds  behind, not like right up their arse) the mileage/cruise control display in the bottom left of the instrument screen will be replaced with an icon of two cars getting close.

AND, if an empty bag of crisps blows across the road in front of you, you best best be wearing your seatbelt as you will be headbutting the steering wheel!

so looks like you would have had to spec it then. I just assumed as it looked like it has the radar it would come as standard like most new cars.

the brochures and marketing material aren't exactly clear and most reviews suggest it's standard on SE L models and above :dull:

does anyone know if you can retrofit? Not that its needed really just a nice have :)
