High level brake light out, no fault codes

Featured Replies

My high level brake light is completely out on my pre FL 2008 Octavia Estate.   I know they are not monitored by the bulb out system, but I have also checked VCDS for fault codes in the CECM and found no fault codes.  I'm suspecting water ingress to the unit and will remove to do a voltage test as my next step (to rule a faulty unit in or out), but shouldn't there be a fault code here?

Thanks

Adam

I took light off in my lunch hour today and it appears a voltage is getting through so looks like unit is goosed. Presumably no fault code as there is still a complete circuit I guess.

My 2009 pre fl is monitored, it keeps telling me to check it.

The high level brake light?

Had  this problem on my old mk 1 octavia , took the unit out and , checked with 12 volt on each bulb , found a few dead replaced with some i got off ebay , and the unit then worked again , maybe if 1 or 2 go , it cuts all the rest out , had to buy a pack of about 100 only a few quid and a bit of trial and error to find the duff ones to replace . may help

The estate uses LEDs in a complete unit, as did the Mk 1 estate.

Thanks all. Yes it is a sealed unit on the estate. Looking at mine there is some water in it so its probably goosed and I have ordered a replacement. I'm just surprised there's no fault code.

Yeah the high level one, it's intermittent at the moment but it says check high level brake light, this is on estate also, had a quick look but no idea how it comes off?
