Skoda failing to start after 'stop/start'

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a 64 plate Octavia Scout which has been running fine up until about 2 months ago. The car had trouble starting on cold starts but no issues any other time. It needed a service so got that done but still had issues starting. The car turned over fine but just didn't fire! Then when stopping at lights or in traffic, Stop/Start would kick in, try to restart and the car would fire and start but then cut out/stall almost immediately. This would normally happen twice then it would start and off we go, once the clutch had come back! Now on most (80%) warm starts the car fails first and second but then starts on the third. I was told that it was likely that glow plug 3 (with the pressure sensor (£95!!!)) is faulty, so I replaced that and the other 3. Didn't fix it. Have been told it could be the fuel filter but that was replaced not so long ago.

A bit stuck now and don't want to be spending more money on just swapping good for good

Have you done a diagnostic scan to check/see what fault codes the engine ECU has stored? That would point you in the direction of the cause(s).
