Driver Mode Selection Superb 2.0 TSI DSG SEL Exec

Featured Replies

Every time I start my Superb it has reverted to normal mode on Driver Selection. Does anyone know how to set this so it stays in Sport mode or Eco mode each time you get in and drive the car?

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think you can. It's the same for all cars due to the way the EU emissions tests are run. They have to (by law) test the car exactly the way it comes by default; so if a switch needs pressing or whatever to get back to normal modes (i.e. to turn off sport mode or whatever) then they won't press it - the car is tested as is. That's why cars always default to a slower/eco type drive and you need to switch on the gubbins, disable stop/start etc yourself each time you start the car.

if you're talking about the driving modes that relate to Eco-Comfort-Normal-Sport-Individual, then mine always remains in the mode i last used.

so if i was in Comfort, it will remain in Comfort until i change it manually.  turning the car off, parking, overnight etc etc etc does not revert it back to normal.

if you are talking about transmission drive modes, i.e. Drive-Sport-Manual, then this will always default to Drive mode on start up, despite the Driving Mode previously selected.

mine is a DSG with DCC.

I have started another thread on this relating to ECO mode.

If you have the car in ECO mode or have drive set to ECO in individual, the next time you start the car the drive mode is normal. Likewise if you have it in SPORT or have individual mode set to have drive in SPORT it will revert to normal the next time you start.

Note this is the drive mode. So when in ECO the gear selection had an E in front it will then me D. Likewise for SPORT it will revert to D too.

Other settings like steering, adaptive dampers, etc, are remembered.

What this means for ECO mode for the transmission is it will not coast.

My previous sportline 190 & 220vrs octy both dsg always stayed in last mode used.

However current sportline 280 reverts back to D, which is annoying, as I normally drive in ECO mode.

Also having towbar & elecs on both previous cars, when elecs connected mode ECO not allowed.

But on the 280 when elecs connected if I choose (not good idea if towing eg coasting/clutch wear) eco it will engage! Spec change from 17 to 18 I'm told by dealer.

I use individual. If you need sport it just a quick flick of the mode button or pull back on the dsg stick. I have noticed that if you use enough throttle and it changes down 2 gears then the second kickdown activates sport. When going for a overtake I prefer to pull back on the dsg stick and get into the correct range before booting it. It’s a lot smoother than using kickdown. Rarely use the DCC in sport if I need that it’s just a quick push of the mode button to circuit round the presets.
