Rear wiper doesn't flash screen wash anymore

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've realised that my rear wiper doesn't flash any liquid at all. I have topped up the screen wash but nothing coming up as i pressed the wiper liver down. wiper works ok..its just the screen wash. it used to work before. can anyone shade some light on it please. thank you.

Your rear wash pipe may have become blocked or disconnected. Used to happen a lot on Octy 2s.

Mine's started doing this, it will be the nozzle jet that's blocked most likely. Annoying, I only changed it last year for a new one.

Lif tthe cover off the end of the rear wiper and prise off the nozzle jet - it's just a black bit of plastic that reluctantly clips on. Once it's off, fire your rear washer jet and if you get a fountain-like stream then it's just your nozzle jet blocked. If you still get nothing then your pipe may be blocked or disconnected.

As dunc69 says, also happened frequently on the MK2

Can you hear the pump motor when you activate it?

Yes, I can hear the motor working.

Is it the bottom part which should come off ahenners? Do I need any especial tools for that?

The plastic cover in the right of the image in that link should come off your wiper or at least lift up, then you should see the nozzle. It's just pushed onto the round hole as shown in that picture so just needs lifting off. You can see the removed nozzle in the guys hand in that pic. No special tools required, just a considerable force to get it back on if it's never been off.

Hopefully that makes sense?

If it is the nozzle that's blocked, soaking it in some vinegar or something might unblock it. Can also try a pin into the ends to see if they are blocked. They are only about a fiver from the dealer anyway if no luck unblocking.

No, things have got worse, Just found out Mrs G's Colour blind, she thought it was Red

Had the same thing a few months ago, blocked nozzle.

Largely caused by parking in a dusty carpark in work with the prevailing wind blowing said dust into the nozzle.

Nozzle is too small to push a pin into it however using an old toothbrush and pushing a few of the fibers into the nozzle tip worked well for me.

I tend to give the rear wiper a blast every other day just to try to keep it from getting blocked.

Thank you soooo much for your effort. I've had it cleaned. It works like charm now.
