headlight washers!

Featured Replies

So I've gone through an entire bottle of washer fluid in 1300 miles since new, thanks in part to the headlight washers which seem to come on every time I wash the windscreen!

I was under the impressions they would wash the headlights every 10th time the windscreen is washed?

anyone else experienced this?

The washer top up message also comes on, then disappears for a few mins before coming back again!

Due to the constant washing of the lights I've had mine Doctored so they only wash the lights if you pull and hold the wiper stalk for more than 2 seconds.

It is every 10th time but from start up. So if you wash then do a power cycle they’ll wash again.  There is no memory from what I can see.

As above, I’ve also changed the settings so mine require a 2 second pull of the stalk before they activate.  The issue that brings is that several short washer bursts seems to result in the tear drop wipe not activating. Can’t win em all I guess.

At the minute I'm doing about 5 litres a week! And around 1000 miles a week. I'm pretty sure mine is every 5th cycle when the lights are on. Might need to get it checked. After a 300 mile trip on Wednesday my car is absolutely ditched but the headlights are still remarkably clean so it is doing it's job well.

How do you code the 2 second thing? As that would be useful

I've gone through a full tank's worth of screenwash in about 3 weeks because of the amount of salt on the road that flicks up. The headlight washers do use loads but they also keep the headlights pretty clean. I've just left it as default; I.e. every 10 sprays, and first time the lights are on.

The setting doesn't have to be 2 seconds either, as I understand it you can set the delay to what you want.
