BLT EGR problem (Delete gone wrong)

Featured Replies

I was having my 06 Fabia serviced and MOT'd about a month ago when the mechanic noticed I had an EGR delete kit in my boot; so I let him install it - a "good one" from Darkside I had bought impulsively when I got the car.

After a while I noticed a hissing sound. Turns out he put the blanking plate on the end of the EGR cooler (I knew no better), which has split at the corrugated bit. The few inches with the blanking plate are now hanging off, and the car sounds and smells like a tractor.

Is it possible to change the EGR cooler without getting under the car? My plan is to replace the cooler and reinstall the ASV and EGR. I don't want to keep this EGR delete - I'm having nightmares about the engine running away without the ASV!

A bad boy has learnt his lesson.

When you install the egr on a blt you need to remove that pipe front he manifold and put the blanking plate on the manifold. You also need the to replace the coolant pipe. Darkside sell the replace pipe needed
