Fabia VRS SE EGR delete

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I've been reading about EGR delete and many people say it is not worth it and many say that it is the worst thing put in cars and should be removed. I am not really sure if I should get an EGR delete on my Fabia.

I have some problems with the car itself, the engine is juddering when idling, sometimes i feel like car is hesitating, then a few times when i was accelerating of the lights the car lost all it's power even when i had my foot planted to the floor.

I asked my mechanic friends if i should get an EGR delete but some said yes do it and the other half said it's not worth it.

Are all them problems that i mentioned linked to an EGR valve or could there be something else wrong with it?

Chances are it will be the gasket in the egr valve. There was a updated one with a larger diameter hole in it try replacing that first

The EGR system reduces emissions, increases fuel economy and lowers EGT, there is a common misconception that it does all this at the expense of POWAH!

It does not, it does all these things for free, so you gain exactly nothing by deleting the EGR system.

I would not be deleting it for the power, i've read many articles, posts and comments saying that they cause problems, then some many people say they dont cause any problems.

EGR doesn't help economy on a diesel, it sacrifices a little in favour of reduced NOx emissions.

The EGR system does not cause your engine to lose all its power as you try to accelerate from the traffic lights.

There is something else wrong causing this problem.

Edit: Thanks Wino, that may well be the case, it may also not be very helpful in this context.

Forgot to mention that it does not happen that often anymore after i scrapped off some soot of the asv valve that seemed to help for a while.

It sounds like the entire system needs a proper clean-up rather than deletion, suggest you go ahead and get it done if you can't be bothered.

I will try to clean it first and if that continues then i will be sure that it is not an egr fault

Still not seen any real feedback from VRS owners on this option:-

I did one on my PD130 ibiza (asz engine), because the EGR was clogged and causing limp mode.  It is a little bit rougher when you turn the car off, but other than that, it's a plan with no drawbacks as far as I can see. It took about an hour of basic spannery to do.

I gather the later BLT engine needs the EGR mapping out if removed or it throws a fault light, but that is second hand Internet information.

I used an Allard kit which came with utterly everything I needed and was a great fit.

BLT engine code also has the cooled egr. Therefore the coolant pipes have to be rerouted or deleted. Whichever you chose.

I'd advise taking the valve out, giving it a good soak in petrol, wire brush it clean, then refit. See if it improves matters
