Rear Tail light lens

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just noticed a bulb rolling around inside my rear tail light!!. How would I remove cover to get at it or is there an easier way to get at it?

Look from inside the boot. Pull back any carpet flaps and you'll see there's a bulb-holder that unclips and pulls out with all the bulbs attached (except the one that's rolling around, which you will hopefully now be able to reach...).

How strange, I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. I thought a bulb had blown but on checking I found the bulb rolling around inside the lens cover, I would have thought it impossible for the bulb to fallout from the  holder but it had. It was impossible to fish the bulb out thru the hole so I had to remove the complete lens, several small nuts to be undone inside the boot, then remove the lens and hold it horizontally with the red side uppermost and jiggle it about until the bulb can fall out thru the hole. Sounds a fiddle but it's simple and should only take a few minutes.  Good luck.

Thanks for that, good info....never in 35 yrs driving have I ever had a bulb 'fall out'. I have not had time to have a good look yet to see if it is an old bulb that previous owner left in there or if it has indeed fallen out of holder..........

Try a bent coat hanger with blue tack jammed on it.

After that, remove the taillamp, bulb and bits of blu tack from inside :) Sound good in theory but easiest way is just remove lamp. You will need 10mm T socket with extension I think

Lol. I knew the wifes baking utensils would come in handy some day!! This fished it out. The bulb must have been in there a while as all bulbs were present.

Now, can anyone please give me a list of what 4 bulbs should be in there (from top to bottom) as each tail light has different bulbs in them!!

Another question for you........are the rear light bulbs the same on both sides?

Yes, although you may only have one rear fog light on the drivers side, I can't remember.

both sides have the same bulbs and cluster. Just the wiring only goes to the fog on the driver side(uk) .  unless you want  add the extra wire to have 2 fogs :D

How do you add this extra wire?

Look on the drivers-side rear light, bottom wire on connector and remember colour. Mine was black/grey.

Then on passenger-side light there is a missing slot on the bottom connector where the cable needs to go. Main loom runs behind that light so just find the right colour and scotchlok it with short length of wire, then push other end of wire into empty slot on connector. Cable tie it in place and you've got 2 rear fogs which is much more aesthetically pleasing

There is a guide on here but the pictures are no more

Cheers mate. I'll look into that this weekend weather permitting.

Ill get you a photo of mine so you can see, but its **** easy anyway
