Electronic driver window not working properly

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a little issue with my car and I am not sure what it might be. The front driver window sometimes is not working and as I figure it out it is due to the fuse, every time it is not working I open the fuse box, take its fuse out and put it back, and everything is fine. It did not bother me so much in the past as it would stop working maybe once in 2-3 weeks or so, so it wasn't a big issue for me to just take the fuse out and put it back. But recently it started to do so, quite often, sometimes twice a day. Though maybe the fuse is bad, changed to another one, same issue...what might be the issue here, did anyone had the same issue? how did u solve?

On the other hand, my heat blower had an issue, it would work only in position 4, rest of them 3, 2, 1, would not work. I read here that it is because of the resistor, bought a new one, changed it, worked fine, for a day...than stoped. Though maybe I did not place is properly and it disconnected, checked everything is fine, took it out put it back, doesn't work. Can it blow a resistor in one day? Or there is another issue?

Cheers!

It's not the fuse. What you are doing by taking the fuse out and putting it back is resetting the electronics. It's probably either the switch or the electronics which are part of the driver's window motor.

The heater fan resistor may quickly blow if your cabin filter is blocked, or the new resistor may just be faulty.

Could be the switch. I had an intermittent fault with driver s door control window switch for passenger window on the vrs. New switch was about £30 to 40 from dealer. Strange how just works or does not work. Lose wiring?

My mum s 307cc then developed similar problem a year on. Dealer wanted £130!

It is possible to use a thin small flat ended screwdriver to open up the back of the driver s window switch after removing from door - reverse side of switch. Use a soft slightly damp tissue to clean the gold looking contacts. They look clean but that slight grime dust messes up the contact. Also wipe the black switch contacts also.

From what you describe though it is an all or nothing? Not what i experienced.  Worth a try for free? There are clips holding door switch in place.

Thanks for the reply, can it be because of humidity? I live in Denmark so here kind of rains a lot....and also I have observed that when the window goes down sometimes when it would have rained the whole night it comes wet-ish...

Regarding the fan resistor, yeah that is most probably the issue, cause I didn't know and didn't change the cabin filter at all. The guy that owned the car before me...didn't really take care of it, and when I took it, I changed the oil, engine air filter, fuel filter and oil filter, as I thought those are most important, currently I am a little low on funds (life of being a foreigner student :)) ) so when changed the resistor fan, didn't change the cabin filter, big mistake :(

Th window motor is just behind the door card and isn't really subject to a great deal of moisture. Sometimes they just go wrong for whatever reason. As I say though, it could just be the switches or even broken wires in the door bellows.

apparently it was a battery issue, had another issue with it  check this thread

after changing the battery, the window seems to work just fine.

Thank you everyone for advice and replies
