Scuff Plates - DIY

Featured Replies

I didn't order these from factory, been quoted below, i can swallow the £6 increase on parts but £100 for 40 mins of work, not. I can get for £65 an hour of independent garage mechanic to do it.

Going to try do it myself i think, does it require unclipping out any trim, and stuff like that or these just glue on? I ma experienced with removing door cards and bits of dashboard.

RRP:   £76.00  including VAT

Fitting time: 40  time units

Fitted Price:  £100.00  including VAT

Contents:

·         Front door sill covers (x2)

·         Rear door sill covers (x2)

I fitted scuff/ sill plates to my first Yeti. They came with double sided tape fitted so it’s just a mater of pulling the plastic off and sticking in position. You are supposed to use templates to make sure they are in the correct position, but it’s not too hard to work out where they fit and mark with masking tape or similar. Just make sure the area is spotless and go for it, but remember once they stick there is not any chance of relocating, so make sure they are lined up and positioned before placing in position.

£100 fitted price is including the scuff plates, isn't it? So £76 for the plates + £24 labour.

quick question, is scuff plates just more rugged version of the stand ones, so they are same size but maybe plastic?

I have seen some on Amazon for front and back for about roughly I think eleven quid, seem to cover more of the sill too.

I bought "carbon fibre" look plates off Amazon for my wife's Citigo. Four years old now and still looking good, a doddle to fit and only about £10 for the front and back. Too long ago to provide a link, sorry.

For our #2 Yeti I got the basic black ones from Superskoda cheap as chips.

When they start getting them for our black Karoq (ordered 22/01, BW 9) I'll get some and fit them myself. Very easy. And saves £24 for other stuff

does karoq come with smaller plates and the scuff ones cover more area is that all ?

Don't think it comes with any plates as standard. I've got the "official" scuff plates and the rear ones are tiny.

The Yeti's were, certainly. Then, so was the area you'd actually put a foot on. Not sure about the Karoq.

London jock is right, they don’t come with any sill protection.

That’s what I said in a earlier topic, you get all these extras and what at the cost to them 20 quid you get no scuff plates.

Anyway check out Amazon I thought they where reasonable, if only a temp measure until Superskoda have a better option.

By the way I can understand on the entry level but on the Edition perhaps a standard fit.

I used helicopter tape, a clear plastic laminate, cost less than £15 quid, and with a hair drier, soapy water and a bit of swearing stuck them on the front sills.

A very interesting suggestion from edencampers.I had never heard of helicopter tape though I think this is a similar product used to "wrap" expensive exotic performance cars. What I like about a tape is that I think you can get it different widths and so cover the  vulnerable sill edge. I would appreciate some online link to edencampers product if possible.Thank you.
