OTOH Max Vercrashen is the driver most likely to bin it on lap 1 (and to then blame someone else).

Mercedes did not have outright qualy pace. Had the best race pace though.

That doesn't really sound like his ultimate one lap pace is still there.

 

Although to be honest he has had weak qualifying years before. Rosberg smashed him 11 poles to 7 all the way back in 2014.

The second half of the season he didn’t seem on it with qualifying usually you can expect lewis to extract the maximum from the car but that was missing. Zero race pace missing though. Hopefully just a blip and be back stronger next year

...and that's a lot due to the 50bhp deficit as well.

 

He has to risk passing on lap one because the Honda is still too slow on the straights (except at high altitude for reasons not yet explained)

Chinese Formula E race cancelled due to Corona Virus outbreak.

That's ramped up the excitement a bit then.😀

Formula E season to be concluded at an airbase outside of Berlin between 5th and 13th August with 6 races on 3 different circuit layouts to complete the delayed 2019-2020 season which was suspended in March. The double header races taking place on 5-6, 8-9 and12-13th August are to be shown on the BBC.

Even more like Scalextric than before then! So much for the international city centre series. Makes a change from the usual carparks and industrial district's they race in though. The circuits are usually as near the city centre as the nearest Ryanair airport 😀.

You can see Templehof on much older footage than that Ken. It was a major Nazi prestige project (with secret aircraft factory underneath too!).

I like the way a search for formula E latest news takes you straight to their official site:

 

- which makes absolutely no mention of the fact that 2 of its biggest manufacturers are leaving after the 20/21 series

Let's face facts it is about as exciting as Marbles racing each other using gravity to avoid pollution. No noise means no thrills.

On facebook yesterday there was an item about an EV (whatever one -  I forgot) breaking the EV world drifting record.

 

Woo-hoo. Not exactly a Silvia S10 or R34 GT-T with 1000 screaming bhp and open exhausts is it. 

 

 

 

 

Googled. It was a Porsche Taycan. Whatever.

The petrol record drift is 232.5 miles. Cant see most EV going that far in ECO mode, let alone sideways with lots of power required.

 

Just a dull motoring development.

 

Bring back something exciting like steam cars, which after all eclipsed electrics in 1902 when Serpollet took the LSR from Jenatzy, and 4 years later Marriott outran the latest IC cars too at 121mph.

Just Googled maximum speed of a Formula E race car and was surprised it was 174mph with the right gearing but it ain't as impressive as an Indy 500 racer let alone an F1 car doing 230mph at Monza.

No wonder EV look slow. The World Record fastest Scale speed of a Scalextric type slot car is 983mph

BMW and Audi have long since announced they're already going.

Channel 4 has coverage of Live Formula E Monaco ePrix. 

At least you get time to watch the scenery as there is not much to follow watching the cars and the annoying noise can be turned down on the telly and that means the excited commentators are also silent.
