Quality of Car Mats from Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi Guys & Girls

Just wondered how your mats are standing up. after 3000 miles and 3 months my front drivers mat has worn through. Pretty poor quality and they feel very thin. I wonder if its a worth a line to Skoda.

37K miles and there is virtually no wear showing at all.

You are not wearing high heals are you? as these will go through mats very quickly.

I think the Skoda rubber matts are great. However there are really rubbish for a taxi. Reason being is the texture of all the SSSSSSSS is hard to keep clean when using it as a taxi. You really need a pressure washer and a scrubbing brush. I thought I was doing great when mine came with a split new set. Soon realised and purchased a taylored set from HI Tech who make the OE matts for many car manufacturers. These ones have a much easier pattern on them to clean. I need to be able to take a damp chamois (only used for matts) and give them a wipe when at home for lunch or anytime I have pre booked business hires so there always looking like new. They get a thorough clean on a Sunday.

Ha only on my birthday! nope only shoes and trainers

Which mats? There are two, aren't there? Standard and premier or some-such. I got the premier ones from SuperSkoda while my car was on order, as it was much cheaper than direct from the dealer. Some 17,500 miles and almost 2 years later and they're still great despite being beaten daily by a family of five.

These ones not sure which ones they are.

I've got the standard 'pile' carpets. Not exactly luxury! Pile about 2mm deep. The SuperSkoda ones seem to be a lot better, and in fact what Skoda should be fitting as standard.

(I'm definitely not impressed with the main floor covering either. After it's been vacuumed a few times, it looks like it's coming apart)

Those are the slight differences that separate the Skoda from VW and then Audi.

True.

But when the L&K is costing towards £40k, the trim should reflect this.

Sad but true. Audi will always be not better built but the quality of some materials in some areas are plusher. Although years ago in a press conference the CEO of Audi ones said he doesn’t understand why people pay over the odds for a Audi when the same basic components go into make Škoda.

If I’m being completely honest. I love originality. These hitech mats are very good quality. I had a set in my E class and a set in my 3 series. However the Škoda ones don’t have a raised lip round the edge which the others have had. That’s my only bug bare. Fit perfect. I also have the tunnel mat.

I got the OEM tunnel mat and it might just be the one I have, but it seems to mark really easily. I was thinking about something like Bufsol to remove the shiny sealer and maybe match the Hitech mats better too?

The only thing I would change about the Hitech mats would be to make the drivers one a little longer. I think they have been over cautious about not fouling the pedals... great fit though.

The mats I have are the carpet ones that came with the car Im guessing standard ones. I would have at least expected them to last a bit more than three months before a hole appeared.

My old navara rubber matts wore my heel away before the matts!

I view matts as an expendable item and expect to replace them (at some point).

Is yours a manual? leverying / pivoting against the carpet will increase wear dramatically.

Mines an auto and the carpet has hardly any leverage as its mostly in cruise control (ACC) so even the brakes don't get used!)

112k in just short of 3 years and mind are still pretty good , even the drivers one.
