Video playback

Featured Replies

Just put a dvd in and pleasantly surprised that it plays, obviously for only when stationary. Is it possible to watch skygo from my phone onto the bigger screen? If so what's the best way?

TIA

I have the DVB TV tuner and can’t stream my phone to car. I’m sure you could download your programs onto an SD card a watch them that way.

Thanks Jonnie, I'm hoping to watch a bit of live sport, etc whilst waiting for the twins and wife when I'm on taxi duty.  ;)

Apart from cars and bikes my sport is Rugby so able to watch the Six Nations Live on TV whilst in the rank. Although a tad disappointed in Scotland.

The SD card trick does work but you need to check the screen resolution.  I think you are locked into 720x576 pixels, the old SD TV standard in the UK.  My 2015 won’t show video on anything with a higher image quality such as is found on HD broadcasts.  The TV tuner must downscale to match it.

It does say in the manual what type of files it can read. Can’t remember off hand though.

Short answer is no. Even if you got MirrorLink to work for you (I failed with my Samsung Galaxy S6 and to be honest I don't need it), SkyGo does not support MirrorLink.

Ever tried plugging a smartphone with HMDI output into a TV and then run SkyGo? Because SkyGo will detect this and then not work. Or tried to MirrorCast the screen to a Google Chrome or similar - it won't work from a phone.

The only way I have had SkyGo working onto the LCD TV is by running it in a web browser on a laptop that's plugged in via HDMI. Nothing Sky can do about that but they have control over the SkyGo app.

using mirrorlink - i can "mirror" anything playing on my phone to the Columbus screen, for example Youtube.  touch, audio and sound all wroking :)

however, mirrorlink its safety gimmick and turns off the screen when i'm in motion :(

my phone is an android htc10.

some images below of mirrorlink in action, for me.

But regardless of whether this is Mirrorlink to a car based Infotainment system or a TV (or similar), the Sky Go app knows it is being mirror linked or using HDMI and will not work.

yeah, i've never used SkyGo specifically.

I have a iPhone. So no mirror link.
