I was looking at buying an '01 Fabia 1.4 from Gumtree, as 'spares and repairs' and managed to bring the seller down to £150.

 

Seller is useless so wanted to get opinions here, he says the clutch has a problem (makes a tapping noise when pushed down and won't run), and the EPC light is on dash. last MOT on 8/7/2017 was advisory, said central exhaust has minor leak of exhaust gases, and offside front constant velocity joint gaiter is damaged (albeit preventing ingress of dirt)

 

Is it worth going for, I've heard the clutch on the 5 speed isn't too hard to replace? But would the EPC light mean that there is some sort of throttle issue too?

 

I appreciate that theres not much info but I haven't had a chance to check it, as the seller is useless and hard to get in contact with, but I really want a Fabia

The EPC light can be illuminated by a faulty brake light switch but it could be something else. Hard to say without fault codes. Ask the seller if the brake lights work.
