start stop

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a problem sometimes the start stop system does not work after a few miles when engine is hot and i can smell something burning like a rubber and the engine is working around 1000 (higher) also the fun is working. Any ideas what is it ?

Probably doing a DPF regen so maybe it's set to not stop if that is going on. Just a guess.

@hatchy your correct. The vehicle won’t let the engine turn off when the car is in regen mode. Like wise when there is too much load on the battery it also won’t turn off.

No, completely normal, nothing to worry about & you dont need to do anything special, its just the ECU doing its normal thing.

You can also get sometimes the fan running very fast when you stop.

Again this is normal & just the ECU ensuring that the engine & exhaust are sufficiently cooled.

StopStart & an increase in idle speed can also occur when battery charge is low or if the air conditioning demand is high in the summer.

Yours  is a diesel?  If it is,  then it's doing what its supposed to do.
