So, as it's been pointed out, my original thread died a death after Photobucket decided to replace all my photos with a ransom demand for paid hosting. The thread was getting a bit long in the tooth anyway, so I've decided to start a new one before the major overhaul I've got planned for this summer. As yet I'm still unsure whether to keep the Mad Max theme or go down another route, but I've still got plenty of time to have a think. In the meantime I've been busy uploading selected bits of history from my photo albums.

 

I'm not going to recap the whole history of the car (those that are really that interested can still see the old thread) but instead I've put together a "2010 - 2017" album which shows the transformation from the day I bought the car (very first pic) on 1st August 2010.

 

When the weather gets better I'll hopefully be returning to the Briskoda scene with plenty of updates and of course... obligatory madness

 

Hopefully I will be able to spend my money on performance this year, rather than forever fixing the damn thing!

Dont let it die!!!!!!! Youve had this for the same length of time ive had mine. Im not willing to let mine die uey either even though shes been written off and put back on the road via the aid of a sledge hammer

It's still running! 

 

My little Corsa B is about to hit the road, so now I can finally off road the Skud and do some proper work, without having to worry about getting to work. 

 

One small update for now: I've finally bought an FMIC... with no instructions on how to fit it ffs

 

Hopefully this is the year I can strip everything back, repaint it and get it up to Stage 1.

Cant kill a mk1. Even one thats been through as much as this one!

So... it's been a long while since I updated this and that's mainly because nothing much has happened. I've now ticked the car over to 175,000 miles and it's still pulling like a train! Anyway, the time has come to strip it back and re-paint it. The previous paint lasted for 6 years, which for a rat job (with no lacquer) is pretty damn good!

 

I've decided it's time to change colour again and I've tested out 4 different military greens. I originally liked NATO Green the best, but it's turned out a bit too light... so English Green has won.

 

 

 

 

 

Someone needs a trip to the dentist.

 

 

 

Rubbing the old paintwork off is a nightmare as it's thick military paint. I took off the original paint in a single day when I did it last time... I've managed just about half in 4 days, this time around 😅 I'm not going to strip it completely though, as the base layers are still good - plus, more layers = better protection. I'm gonna have to bang the Kurust out though, as there's a fair wack of rot creeping in.

 

 

 

 

 

I've primed and painted 2 brand-new wings as the old ones are completely rotten and missing their bottom halves.

Still rocking the MFP details, but just in a different colour scheme!

Weather has been awful and I'm behind schedule... but got a few more bits done.

 

Test fitted some parts - starting to take shape a little:

Most of the plastics / accessories have been done now - just need to start priming / painting the car and getting the logos painted.

 

Then comes the dreaded task of refitting all the rivets 😑

I'm liking the new colour

Front bumper all done - the fluorescent orange on this is so bright, it can't be caught on camera 🤩 New numberplate is also ready to go!

Loads has been done since the last update - designs, calipers, tyre art and more. Finally got the main bulk of the work done - all sprayed up and the rivets have started to go back on:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

O/S wing has now gone on and it's been a massive PITA, mainly because of sill damage, meaning the bottom wouldn't fit properly. Managed to get it on eventually, just need to rivet it.

Still plenty to do, as I'm waiting for the new stencils to arrive, so I can spray on the decals. New parts have also arrived, including coilovers, uprated FARB, DV relocation and more... plus I've still got the FMIC to fit.

Unfortunately the NSF steel wheel was damaged on a large pothole - tyre always deflates after pumping up. Even tried to fit a new tyre to be sure, but same problem. 

 

I want to get some new alloys as they will be lighter weight. I'm still looking for some decent ones... all the ones I like are the wrong size though :(
