Fabia Central Locking

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. I hope someone might be able to help with a central locking/remote key problem. My daughter was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Fabia with remote central locking and alarm. She pushed the central locking button on the passenger door and the owner is now saying that the car won't start and is accusing her of damaging it!!!! Is it really possible that just pushing the central locking button could cause a problem like this? I wondered if pushing the buttons on the remote many times to try to unlock afterwards would have caused the problem.

Thanks

Chris

Although I'm not an expert, I wouldn't have thought that pushing down an internal button would have caused the starting problem you mention.

It might be worth a post in the "Ask A tech" section also.

I hope you get it sorted

i had probs with my central lockin the other day. it wouldnt stay locked! check ya fuse hasnt come loose. i took the fuse out then pushed it back in and its been ok since.

On a previous SEAT Ibiza I had, I managed lose the link between the remote key and the car by pressing the button too many times while searching for my car in a dark carpark. There was a sequence to go through with the key in the ingnition to resynchronise it may be the same problem as you have stated.

I am sure it was covered in the manual for the Ibiza so it may be worth checking the Skoda manual.

No - of course not... It's a perfectly acceptable way to lock the car. He's talking rubbish!

I've lost the code sequence on mine before, I think it automatically does it after you try the button too many times in case someone steals your key and starts trying Fabia in car parks or something.

Anyway to reactivate it, I put the key in the lock and unlocked it and help it there so the windows wound all the way down, then did the same with the lock so the windows closed. Worked fine after than.

Many thanks for all your thoughts everyone, they are really appreciated. I know the original question may have seemed a bit daft:O , but not being familiar with the Fabia, and in view of what my daughter was being accused of, it was something I had to get sorted. This forum was my first port of call and I've been really impressed with the speedy responses. Thanks again everyone:thumbup:

Please note the original enquiry on this thread noted "the owner is now saying that the car won't start and is accusing her of damaging it". I conclude from this that there is no synchronisation problem with the central locking as people have been responding describing - that problem is fully covered by the handbook but is not the issue here. The issue here is that the car won't start!!!.
