Goodyear F1 Assymetric 3

Featured Replies

I paid £390 for 4 last summer so £350 is a great price. You end up paying a bit more for one tyre and if you have a damaged tyre, the rest are virtually new and you need to be on the road, you don't have much time shop around.

I had half epected my pucture to be repairable but it was just a bit too near the shoulder. They didn't have one in stock but the technician was good enough,at 5 pm, to drive 8 miles to pick up a tyre and fix it before he went home, so I thought £102 was a very fair price in the circumstances.

Increases in our local property rates are, apparently, in inverse proportion to the number and depth of potholes in the area. Half my (admittedly short) journey to work has become a slalom around some of the worst.

I was 350 - something as well in February for a set of 4, (225/40./18) ordered online (blackcircles)  and booked in advance into a local tyre place for fitting.

There was an offer on to save £25 if 4 tyres were bought together. I think they were 95-96 each before the discount

then, a week later thanks to a pothole, I shelled out 110ish  (IIRC) for a "right here, right now" replacement at National once I eventually found somewhere that had them in stock. (Kwikfit were asking 125 each)

Hope you claimed of of you're local council! Galway is rife with potholes and people always claim here and are full refunded in most cases, all you have to do is show them the pothole, time of incident , damaged caused and price of repair, damaged an alloy and tyre once because of a pothole , had to pay myself but the council refunded.......fully!

I have always  fitted Goodyear F1’s on my vRS from the MK1 to the MK3 which I just sold. I put some Michelin PS4’s on the front last year as they were the only ones the garage had in stock and can honestly say I was very impressed with the handling in both the wet and dry. If you have put 4 new tyres on I would recommend 4 wheel alignment as it seems most Octavia’s aren’t set up properly. My MK2 had the noise problem and saw tooth issues on Dunlop’s but once alignment had been done it was fine. Just bought a vRS 4x4 and it seems to be wearing the inner edges. It has Bridgestones but I’m going to swap to either the Goodyear F1’s or the Michelin PS 4’s and get the 4 wheel alignment done. Also, try Tyreleader for prices as I’ve found them much cheaper in the past.

Just wondering if anybody has tried the Falken Azenis FK510? for the price they get a good review online along side the Michelin PS4's

I have them on my 1.4tsi in 225-45-17. They are truly excellent tyres, they give tons of grip, dry and wet, they are silent with good though not sporty feedback and comfortable enough if you stick to 32 psi. The only thing they don't seem to get along well is wear-they re not bad but they could have been better, I ve done 25,000 KLM and I think they won't last more than 6 to 7,000klm. I would definitely put them on again but the Fulda sporcontrol 2 is better priced than Falken here in Greece so I ll go for the Fuldas!!

Thanks for the info sos80, looks like the Next set of tyres for me will be either the Falken or the Goodyear’s based on price and availability then
