So wondering if anyone else had had the car shutdown less than needed electrical systems when the engine wasn't running due to a low charge battery?

That's what the Battery Management System is there to do, shutdown systems that aren't needed to preserve the battery if the charge level is getting low.

I know you only use your car at the weekends and probably mainly short journeys but it may pay you to go for at least a 50 mile trip once a month to give your battery/alternator a break and a chance to give it a good charge.

It gets short journeys only in the week with the Mrs too. Myself I usually only ever drive it on the weekends and actually it did get a proper run on Sunday which was the first in a little while. I have the CTEK auto charger which I can use easily as I got extended leads etc and just plug in via the 12volt socket. I guess in the winter months and if its not being used I'll keep it plugged in to prevent issues.

I thought as much but this is the first time I've experienced it. Thanks

I called Skoda Finance as mine is through a lease and they said I have to use a main dealer, not independent who uses skoda parts.  That will teach me to lease!

So booked mine in for a service at the local (ish) main dealer, they collected it which I know I pay for.  I get a text with a link to a video that shows a technician showing the car and pointing out tyre depth etc etc.  Never had this before but thought a nice touch.  Of course again I know I pay for all this but end of the day I didnt have a choice

Does it actually say on the cars lease T & C's about servicing ?.  If nothing is mentioned who does the servicing but it needs  servicing every 10K or 20K I'd get it done at a local Indi when required

Its in the written lease T&Cs as well.. VWFS documentation is common across all their VW Group brand leases

If any of you want more noise from the exhaust I recommend the res delete 👍🏻😃

Hi folks, does anyone happen to know much about diamond cut scuff repairs / end of lease / BCA charges etc? Just wondering if anyone has been there before and what people tend to do?

I have exactly the same questions but about 11 months until this becomes a problem for me when my lease car gets checked/passed to BCA, also interested in info too. Noting I have both left side wheels with curb damage to the diamond cut edge of the gemini alloys

Hi my last superb went back to bac at the end of its lease and the guy who checked it was very reasonable. It had a scuff on the back covering three panels and they charged me £45+vat. Suspect it never got fixed before being auctioned but I didn’t feel ripped off as would have cost a fair bit more if I’d had it repaired. He ignored five pin dents/stone chips as fell within their fair wear and tear policy.

not looking forward to my wife’s Leon going back though as currently has a deer shaped imprint on both passenger doors.

Not had a chance to post pictures of mine.

245 2019.

Tduk tuning and pedal box.

Ramair CAIS and pipe.

15mm hubxentric spacers.

Uniroyal Rainsport 3's.

Custom badging.

Rear lip.

Looks good 👍 Wheel / arch alignment is improved with the spacers.

Actually wondering if a family member wishes to buy the car before it goes to bca does this inspection and potential fees still apply? I.e. ask vwfs for a direct sale price to purchase? Seriously thinking about this as someone is gonna get a fairly lightly used vrs I'd say.. would prefer it stay in the family potentially at the moment.

A definite possibility for me with my wife’s Leon to avoid having half the car repaired.

with my vwfs lease on my superb I was offered that option three months before the end of lease. They couldn’t sell it directly to me but would have sold it to my wife if I’d wanted to keep it. Wasn’t a particularly great price from recollection though.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I will sit and wait to see what gets flagged, then go from there. Will make sure I get the kettle on for the Inspector!!

From yesterday's trip to York, 2 hours to get there but 2 hours 31 minutes to get home due to heavy traffic on the A64 and M1.

Hi,shy you keeping well! Just looking at your fuel returns!! Unreal ? Even driving easy my car is only returning 22mpg round town and 31 on a run and that’s not driving to hard?????? Any idea what the problem could be??? Covered over 5k since new. Await your help!

Sure it's not your commute. Even my car doesn't do much more than 27mpg in town or at 30mph limits. Long term recent maxidot over 2,800 miles is exactly 40.0mpg with an average speed of 39mph.

Must be all the weight you have put on after eating the veal...................:tongueout:

That is a good return, can’t get near 40mpg !! When hitting the higher mph not much difference? Don’t get me wrong not to fussed if driving hard but thought it might achieve better when stuck at lower speeds ie 60s&70s

Driving between 60-70mph really should give 40-45mpg over a decent distance. Got 45mpg down to Portsmouth and back in September 2018. 36 litres to cover 360 miles.

Manual or auto?

Those figures don't sound too far off what I get in my dsg estate after 5k miles. We get a bit better that you in urban traffic but that's taking it very gently and leaving start stop on. Should get a bit better on a run if you're not constantly on the brakes or accelerator but I wouldn't say your figures are so low that I'd be worrying about any sort of problem.

Some people don't understand that having 470nm of torque at 2,000rpm compared to 370nm in the standard car at 2,600rpm really makes needing more than 2,000rpm between gear changes pointless unless you want to show off which results in less revs required most of the time and saves fuel. This is where the manual box comes into its own over the DSG which is constantly hunting up and down the 7 speeds looking for the right gear and suffers from quite a delay between pressing the throttle and any significant acceleration happening. Yet to see anyone on here getting 40mpg average over more than 25,000 miles using a standard 245 DSG let alone a stage 2 modified car.:)

I'm at 39mpg over 30,000 ish in my ownership, so close but not quite 40.
