My Dad tows a large luxury 2 berth with his 62 plate Superb 168bhp Estate and gets about 30mpg towing and over 50mpg without.;)

  • 2 weeks later...

My challenge estate finally arrived today. Filthy after a 280 mile drive by the delivery guy and passenger electric seat not working. Luckily I got my head under the seat and plugged it in and now sorted. Not even been for a drive yet but given it a quick wash.

So this week was my first anniversary of getting one of the first My19 245 vRS' so 4700 miles covered for my non commuter in a year. Confirmed with Skoda driverline it's on variable servicing so the car will prompt me in around 100 days for it's first oil service.

Winter wheels and tyres just fitted.
Car is 2 months and 2k miles old.

Must be one of the very few with the chrome pack/roof rails, butI do like shiny bits!

It also came with the all silver Gemini’s which I hope will be more durable than the usual diamond cut ones.

No issues with the car at all so far, great vfm for the discounted price paid.

Got my 245 DSG on the 8th Feb, currently on 2700 odd miles wothout issue.

long list of options including Sunroof, DCC, ACC, Kessy, Canton, Reverse Camera, Heated Windscreen and a few other bits.

Currently running approx 300bhp with a JB4 and intake along with lightweight Forged wheels on PS4-S but ill be fitting a Hybrid Turbo, Downpipe, Intercooler and shooting for 400bhp with a custom remap (and JB4 stacked) and DSG tune and fitting my 6-piston 356mm big brake kit to handle the hike in power.   Also contemplating some Eibach Pro springs to give a modest drop and even out the arch gaps a little.

With VCDS ive disabled the soundaktor and enabled Auto Hi-Beam & VAQ “increased traction”

Great car!

Think Muzza may have removed most of the parts off his car and sold them as well as the car which he won in the Best of the Best ticket competition as he has not post on here for quite some time.

That’s a shame, thanks though

On this topic I thought id check my service status, it shows

Question, when they do the oil change is that all they do or anything else too?  Any ideas of main dealer costs?

My lease runs out next May so im not sure about the inspection service, think I will need to do that before it goes back

Just an oil change really plus they usually wash the car unless you tell them not to. Officially they quote £149 for this but some dealers still doing it for £99 if you are a good customer. More checks are done at the 2nd Inspection service which is a glorified oil change plus pollen/air filter renewal.

Well I'm likely to get fleeced then as a non good customer with my local dealer.. never been near the VWFS PCH supplying dealer in Milton Keynes let alone them :)

£149 for 2 years servicing isn't too bad but I got a Dealer specific plan in 2017 for Oil Service and Oil Inspection plus first M.O.T. for £375.

I'll be the same then, only ever test drove a 230 from that dealer so doubt that counts as a good customer!

I have mine booked in for the so called oil service in around a week. I had to negotiate them down from £179 to £159! Clearly I am not a good customer! I am hoping to duck under the 20k service before it goes back (on pch deal).

Jesus, interesting to know.  I am going to book mine today so will shop around dealers!

Just called my nearest dealer, they want £297 for an oil service!  She told me it needs £110 worth of oil, is that right?  To keep in with the warranty can I take it to any garage or does it have to be main dealer?

They usually charge £12 per litre for the oil and 5.9 litres required so that accounts for just under £72 of the total but that price is a complete joke and they need to be told as much.

Can you supply your own?

You can have your car serviced anywhere and your warranty will not be void providing any parts used are genuine Skoda .... it is enshrined in consumer law ....I blagged 2 years free servicing in my deal though.....

My contract states : "Ensure the vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended intervals by a ŠKODA Retailer."    Bit vague isnt but assume as you say as long as whoever does it used Skoda parts you are fine

I called Skoda Finance as mine is through a lease and they said I have to use a main dealer, not independent who uses skoda parts.  That will teach me to lease!

Hmmm, they didn’t mention anything about charging for the oil. I expected that to be a part of the price! I will call them to check that they aren’t planning to sting me for the oil separately. Still, not a lot I can do if that’s how it is. At least I can still threaten to go to another dealer.

Can’t seem to edit my post, just checked the Skoda site it looks as though they should be inclusive prices:

Interim service

An interim service is carried out every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes sooner. An interim service includes: Oil & filter change (fully synthetic oil), Vehicle inspection test and report*, Full vehicle road test**, Vehicle & software enhancements from ŠKODA’s database, Replacement pollen filter^, Diagnostic check including report, Re-set service interval display, Wash and vacuum, ŠKODA stamp in service book.

Also, fixed service prices are on the same page:

https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price

So refer them to their own page if they’re trying for more:

SERVICING

MOT £39
Interim service £179
Major service £289
