Strong Vibration When Driving...Help!

Featured Replies

Noticed today that it was worse when climbing..does this indicate rear end?

Sounds like glow Plugs or dpf. Check the simple things first. When they stick the computer on in the garage it should show up.

An easy check is to look at your fuel consumption when it happens; if there's a dramatic dip then ist defiantly a fuel supply and burn issue.

If you google this problem with 4X4 or 4 motion, the issue is due to a broken flex disc/ Hardy disc.

I have the same thing (vibrations in 70-80 km/h) from the back of the car.

Will replace the hardy disc and hopefullky this will be the cure.

Just one of the many potential issues that would cause the same effect ... not the only one ...

Yes you are right, not the only one. But hopefully the one...

Well, after replacing the hardy disc (which was well overdue...) the vibration stayed the same. Changed over to winter tyres and the vibration was gone. Strangely it was the front tyres that made the vibration even though I could not feel it through the steering.

The car had been standing at the dealers for 7 months so the right tyre was squared. Good any way that it was nothing more serious and that I now have a good hardy disc.

Any normal tyre mechanic should be able to notice that just by simply spinning the wheel while it is off (on the balancing machine)

Yes, brought the wheels in for balancing this Monday. Told them about my experience and they confirmed that my left tyre was out of balance and the right side was buckled. Since it's leagal from October 1 to change to winter tyres, I will sort the summer tyres out during the winter. Next up is replacing the timing belt/water pump and after that service of the Haldex.
